Thanks for that Davey, the site shows that PPI was underwritten for the Northern Rock by Pinnacle Insurance plc (Cardif Pinnacle)
0870 122 2191
0870 122 2191
It is certainly worth talking to them but do remember, they were not the one's who sold the PPI, It was Northern Rock
Example:
RBS PPI is via UK insurance as one of many
MBNA is via St Andrews
It is the mis-selling of PPI by the banks and what they told you about the policy that matters.0 -
Hi,glad to help, when you want to quote a post,if you click quote under the post you need, this will be quoted.
You just fill one or the other in,they both should be about the same.
Send the form to Welcome, make sure you keep a copy in case you have to take this to FOS.
Front loaded ppi is the most upheld of all ppi,on your agreement it shows ppi and interest, this amount is in the loan total and you pay this to term end with interest, this is like a loan on a loan so to speak.
The ppi policy number is not vital,so put you do not have this, they will find the ppi on the loan from the account number.
If you had a job with sick pay,did you get any more after the 3 months, maybe a half pay?,if you did then put this as a reason, the ppi only covered you for 12 months anyway, even if you were never able to work again, the ppi would only pay this loan for a year.
If you had any savings and life insurance, these would have enabled you to pay the loan should the worst happen,so you did not need this ppi,the main reason for mis sell is front loaded, make sure you put this.
Thanks again Amersall, I'm trying to find out the sick policy at the moment, I know its full pay for 3 months and then half pay but don't know how long the half pay is for...
Is it going to be a problem that I don't really remember any of the phone conversation I had with Welcome when I took the loan out? There is a question on the form that asks to explain what happened when you took the PPI out. I do vaguely remember the guy mentioning Insurance but I was young and naive back then and wouldnt of known what he was on about...
One last thing - because it was front-loaded PPI does that mean it was paid with a one-off single premium paid up front or with a premium paid each month?0 -
Can someone send me a template letter they have used that they have successfully claimed PPI back on. I have my original agreement from Capital Bank and I remember taking the loan out over the phone in 2000 and being told I must have the insurance which for a £6k loan was £2k. I recently spoke to a company called Hamilton Brady who want £10 for each claim yet I have the original agreement for Capital Bank - want to try the claim for capital bank myself as begrudge handing over 30% of any successful claim but wonder if it will take me longer than them?0

Hi, I've seen a couple of questions asked, but not much in the way of answers. Does anyone have experience of reclaiming ppi in Ireland? I thought only UK credit cards and banks were paying back, but I recently found an article from last year saying AIB (who I have my credit card with) were fined last year for misselling. Any draft letters I've come across seem to quote UK legislation and therefore wouldn't be appropriate to use in my case. Does anyone know of draft letters available for the Irish equivalent of the Financial Ombudsman or are appropriate for use in an Irish context?
Also, I originally applied my credit card by post in 1998 as a UCG and then NUIG credit card which gave a donation to my university each time I used it, but AIB changed it to an ordinary platinum card when their agreement with the university ended. I never actually spoke to an AIB staff member about the card or ppi. When I asked for a copy of the terms and conditions from when I first took out the credit card I was sent a copy from 2006 for the platinum card. Is this the agreement I should be working from?
I'm not aware of having been asked at any stage to opt in or out of PPI (I do know I've never agreed to it for personal loans, so I don't think I would have agreed for my credit card if I was given a choice), and I'm still paying it, so I would appreciate any help or advice on what Irish legislation to quote etc. or whether I should try a claims handling service who would know exactly what to do for Irish claims. Thanks0 -

Hi your first step is to contact the financial ombudsman in Dublin
http://www.financialombudsman.ie/
I am sure you could find a claims company who will know about Ireland but they will probably rip you off the same as those in the UK.
By doing some research, you will find the answer you are looking for unless you want to pay a claims company 25% of your winnings0 -
Hi, I am new here and hope I am in the right place.
My mortgage lender is the halifax, my insurer was legal and general and I had a financial adviser set up both my mortgage and insurance cover. I have hardly any paperwork as it was paid off after being diagnosed with cancer by me and not any insurance cover. There is one sentence in the paper work I have which reads "payment protection automatically included", does this sound like a ppi claim possibility. If this is worth persuing who do I send the inital letter too. thanks in anticipation.
With this being possible Mppi, you need to post this here
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=187
You will get more help regarding this to see if it is reclaimable.
If you can reclaim this and you did not claim on this as you did not know you had it,then you can use this as a reason for mis sell, you need to see what the people on the other thread say first.0 -
Northern Rock was sold by the government to Virgin Money, owned by Richard Branson. One assumes that Richard has also taken on the liability of fraudulent PPI selling.
Contact Virgin Money and claim from them
http://uk.virginmoney.com/virgin/northern-rock-intermediaries/contact-us.jsp
You put claims for mis sell into NRAM, they are dealing with claims for mis sell not Virgin.
I know because i have done this, and a friend of mine did hers 4 weeks ago and NRAM dealt with this, there was no mention of Virgin, had this been the case, NRAM would have said so.0 -

If you paid one monthly payment to Welcome (trust me, you will have!) then this is front loaded and a win.0 -

Do not use a claims co for any ppi mis sell, you do all the work and they take the % plus Vat.
Use this letter from the FOS website, it is number 3.
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm
Make a copy in case this goes to FOS, send the original to the bank.
Look here for reasons for mis sell
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step2
If any/all apply to you then put a claim in.
The same applies to all other ppi you may have been mis sold, pop down to the post office, job done!! is this worth paying a company a hefty wack of any redress you may get?, they cannot get you anymore than you can claim for a mis sell, go for it and surprise yourself.0
