I have just received a final rejection letter about Barclays PPI claim saying that there was no PPI on the original loan. I sent Barclays copies of the PPI Policy and loan agreement. The PPI is on a renewal of an existing loan before the expiry of the original loan.

Is there any legal reason why Barclays have declined to refund the because on a refinancing loan?

What are my chances of making a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman?

    Please help.

    Thank you.
Ring FOS and complain about the loan that had ppi on that you have paperwork for, send them a copy of the agreement that shows ppi.
Barclays won't deal with you now as this is a final response,so take it to FOS. they should have looked at the loan that you had the paperwork for that showed ppi.

    Hi Everyone!

SO...if I had a mortgage and whilst applying was sold PPI with payment shield, pinacle insurance etc is it the insurance companies I send the claim to, or the Mortgage provider that sold me these products with the mortgage?

    Thanks all

    Soooooo....
I've had a good scoot around to find the companies we have had loans/credit agreements through over the years

    Black Horse (car finance) £3000
    First Financial (Safestyle Windows) £2800
    Beneficial Finance (HFC) £8000
    3 Barclayloans £15000
    Co-Op £3500
    2 Santanderloans £14000
    1 Santander HP £1200
    Future Mortgages £22000

I have put claims in to Santander, Future Mortgages and sent a SAR to Beneficial Finance.
Does anyone have a template letter that I can send to each company requesting information of any loans that I have held with them?

If you have no paperwork for any of the above, you need to SAR these.
You could ring them and see if they can find you.

Wondering whether to even bother trying.....

I know I was missold PPI as I was told I couldn't have the loan without it. I was on a years temporary contract and my husband was self-employed.

I don't have any of the loan paperwork but I do have the bank statement showing the payments for the loan and for the PPI separately. This was back in 1996 when we got the loan.

I rang the bank yesterday and was told they don't keep any agreements beyond 7 years so they can't provide me with any details.

When my contract ended we got behind with payments and ended up with a debt management plan through CAB. The insurance would not let us claim even though I was now unemployed.

A total stitch up really but without any paperwork or agreement numbers do I have a hope in hell? Surely if they don't keep paperwork that far back either then there's nothing to prove what existed.
Can you get into a branch? some have had success doing it this way, they may find you,if not,and i don't know if it will get you the info you need as it was so long ago,but you could SAR them https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
there is a £10 charge for this.

If you do manage to get any info and you put a claim in for mis sell,
as the ppi is shown as payment on it's own,you could not use the front loaded ppi reason for mis sell,as you knew you paid this separately.
It may be worth£10 just to see if they find the info they need, they have 40 days to get this info, but it may be worth it.

Hi paul i've been doing some poking about on the net and i cannot find anything about time let alone who's taken them on, sorry, amersall or Di might be able to help with this.

    Sorry :o i have no clue :o
  • Just rec'd a letter from HFC (Beneficial Finance)
I had sent them a SAR and they have responded saying they are unable to trace any details of any finance we held with them.

I gave them address details, dob and they have requested this again. What do I do now?? Is this going to be a no-no then? Or is there any other avenue I can go down with them? They have stated that if the loan was paid off more than 6 years ago (which it was) they may no longer hold the details.

    Any advice??
It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice!!

Bailed-out banks worth just HALF the £1,000 it cost each person to save them - as they get ready to admit £6BILLION losses

:(RBS cost £45.5bn to bailout but the stake is now worth just £26bn

:(£20bn paid to bailout Lloyds but shareholding is now worth HALF

Both of these "wannabee" bankers should resign, they have lost half the money we bailed them out with --- DISGUSTING
Would these two banks lend money to failures ??? OF COURSE NOT yet Hester and Osorio are failures so why are they still employed ??
  • Hi,

Does anybody know how long Barclaycard are taking to answer PPI complaints? I sent my form in on the 14/11/11 and still waiting for a final response. Everytime I call I get a different story.
  • Hi,

Received a letter from MBNA on the 30th Dec saying that my complaint was being upheld. The letter said they will contact me within 6 weeks with a figure and cheque. Still waiting on the letter, called them and they said it's been calculated and awaiting approval. It's been awaiting approval since the 10/02.

Any advice on what I can do or is it simply a waiting game?
