    Hi folks.

I've had an MBNA credit card with PPI since 1997, and have recently started the process of claiming. So far I have done step 1 of the guide, and requested (and received) a copy of my original application form and the T&Cs. Next I want to fill in and send the claim questionnaire, but I'm not sure what the best reason to give for the mis-selling would be.

I originally applied for the card by filling in a form I got through the post (the usual junk mail they always send). I did knowingly tick the box to include PPI, so I can't claim I didn't know I had it or anything. The only reason I can think of to claim I was mis-sold it was that there was very little information about it. This is all the application form said about PPI:

"Why worry about the future? You can protect your payments against the effects of life's unpredictable events. Premiums are calculated each month at just 65p per £100 of your average daily balance. You should be eligible for cover if you are aged 18-64 years, in good health, in employment and not aware of any impending redundancy. If you'd like to take advantage of this valuable, low-cost peace of mind, just tick the relevant box."

So while it does mention the cost, it doesn't give much more in the way of details. I still don't know to this day what is or isn't covered, how much, for how long, etc. Is this lack of information my best argument for reclaiming, or is there something else I could bring up instead/as well?

I'm hoping that 14 years worth of PPI might make for a decent sum if I can reclaim it successfully!
You need to look here for reasons for mis sell

If any/all apply to you then put a claim in.

    Some advice please.

Have 3 Lloyds loans ppi refunds, 1 received 2 'pending'!!

I am now wondering whether I should/could go back to them re earlier loans.

I had the numbers of the 3 they are refunding, the earliest started 2003. No info before that but definitely had loans going back a lot further.

Am I being stupid thinking I could open another complaint? Is it too late, too long ago? Any advice gratefully received.:)
It may be too late with the ones before 2003,especially as you have no info on these, you could ring and ask if any previous loans were rolled over into any of those they are paying mis sell for and are they looking at these.
If they are not,see if they can find them for you.

MBNA are well famous for this, they only sent out a copy of the PPI after a claim WAS FILED. The inurance was underwritten by St Andrews a company owned by LTSB and is FRAUDULENT as it was designed never to pay out.

    HERE IS YOUR CHECK LIST
*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?

If you answered no to any one of the above you could be owed thousands of pounds

GO FOR IT, CLAIM EVERYTHING BACK FROM MBNA

Thanks,I will ring and ask as soon as Ive got my hands on the big payment! Dont want to risk that being delayed again. I did only quote the 3 in my claim and it might seem a bit greedy to try for more but then again.....

  • Hi
    Any advice please ?
Just found the paperwork for a DFS suite we bought in 1999. it was buy now get 1 year free and then interest free credit.

Total cost of finance £1306.00, however on the credit agreement it says 'estimated number of monthly installments 24 each in the sum of £59.65 plus 1st payment of £76.00, if you add these up they come to approx £1450. ??? should be interest free ? we have ticked the payment protection plan section but the actual cost of this is not listed separately, infact it is not mentioned anywhere-its only when you add up the monthly instalments that it becomes apparent.
My question is can i claim for mis selling that it was front loaded and the cost hidden ? even though it was interest free ?
any advice would be appreciated, thanks
    :)
  • Hi all, can any give me any advice pls? I sent off a SAR to YB and last week they sent 6 yrs of statements from the visa and 4 loan agreements, most of the loans have been took out before the previous loan has finished so on 2 of the loans where it says purpose of loan it has 2 other loan numbers on. So thats 2 they have missed off and then we found 2 more old loan agreements which they havnt sent either? Can anyone advise what I should do next? Should I write and ask where the rest of the paperwork is? I think iv got all the loan numbers now though and I have already filled in the complaints form off this site, should I send them off now?? Thanks in advance for any help.

Send the claims in now and ask that they look at loans that were rolled over too.
As long as you have account numbers you should be ok.
  • Thanks amersall. One more question, how do you tell if the PPI on the loan was front loaded?.
