    Good morning All,

I have received a letter from GE Money that says that my claim against a Purple Loans - Loan settled in 2005 is "Time Barred" under Limitations Act 1980.

They also say that Ge Money Home Lending companies were not at any time members of the General Insurance Standards Council - a voluntary code it says...

They go on to refer me to the Finance and Leasing Association to further my complaint within 6 months of letter date.

I think that their letter is acknowledgement that a PPI was in place and they detail an account number that I don't recognise.

I would be grateful for any tactical advice or experience on this please?

I think GE Money are trying to pull the wool over your eyes

The point of reclaiming PPI is
    * was it fit for the purpose it was sold
    * would it have covered your circumstances
    * did you have to take out PPI to get the loan

Check on your policy as you probably have grounds for a claim

I originally sent my complaint in around May 9 and I got a reply to say they were dealing with it. I then got a letter that told me how they were going to work everything out and if I agreed to sign and send in the form which I did on 23 Aug. That is the last I have heard from the Halifax I had PPI on 2 loans and a cc. I keep ringing them but like everybody can't get any joy from these idiots on the phones . They won't give me any phones numbers or email addresses the only people I can contact are the fos. Has any-one got a phone number for the Halifax so I can kick them up the !!! and get them working.

Right now, we are seeing that Halifax are becoming very difficult to deal with. This is probably a directive from the masters Lloyds TSB AS THEY ARE IN THE RED and appear to be struggling to pay money.
Before I would have said go to the CEO of Lloyds but he is on sick leave due to stress so they are running around like a headless chicken right now. Di is right, get your MP to intervene in the matter, depends on your MP, some are good at this, others completely useless

    Hi

I received a refund last October 2010 after first taken my complaint to LTSB in July 2009. At the time, I thought this maybe short, but the FOS said this was a good offer.

Just received a letter dated 2nd November 2011 stating they miscalculated by £1100 and will send this via cheque. No mention of compensation for the inconvenience or error. Have spoke to LTSB where a Manager has recommended to the Refund team that they issue this asap with compensation.

Just wondering if this does take too long can I go back to the FOS or any other authority.

    Thanks in advance everyone!
  • Aargh. Halifax! This is so frustrating – I have a cheque for £1700 burning a hole in my pocket. I can’t bank it as it will be seen as acceptance of their offer, and they have no idea when I’ll receive the final response letter with the breakdown of what that £1700 consists of!

Hi karen got mine sorted out in the end, the insurance payment came through last week, the tide seems to be finally turning on cap 1 as far as the fos are concerned, the ombudsman was going to uphold mine after the initial adjudicator rejected it, the new adjudicator was really helpful and restored my faith in the fos where cap 1 were concerned.

Think I might drop the FOS adjudicator a line this evening and see what's what. Is it any coincidence Cap1 keep upping my credit limit? ;)

Hi, you can bank it and write to them saying

"I have received your cheque for £1700 which I accept as part payment of my claim. This will be finalised once you deem to send me a statement showing the breakdown of how you arrived at this payment."
  • Hi, hope someone can help with this please. I have found an old statement headed "Creditcharge", and seem to think this is an argos storecard ? The address at the bottom of the statement is First National Tricity Finance, Agar Street, London but Im having no luck tracing them. It definitely shows ppi and I would love to claim it back so ANY help at all would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.:)

    Well done Janey.

We received a further cheque payment of just under £3K last year as they calculated incorrectly and undepaid on a previous refund months before.

You are in your right to take it to the FOS, and if it was previously dealt with by the FOS there is no harm in making contact just to see what they say as a general query.

If you start a new complaint, as you know it may take some time before its dealt with by the FOS anyway.

So it looks like they are going through older cases of refunds as well, as not all were calculated correctly, so they are paying out on the shortfall now, I note Maxdp posted the same today that she received a letter as well.

Good luck and well done x
