I think halifax are barking up the wrong tree i'm no expert on bankrupcy but according to the article i've found you, you are discharged after 3 years, i thought it was 6 years but i know things have changed a bit, hope this helps. (for virtuous)

    Hi Capo,

I emailed the CEO of Halifax and attached my discharge letter but even then the customer relations keep sending me letters saying that if I do not want the cheque to be sent to Official Receiver, then I should contact them. I wrote back again to the CEO with a link from directgov which explains clearly that after discharge you are free. I also wrote that since I have nothing to do with the official receiver since I was discharge over 6 years ago, we ceased company and as such, it is their responsibility to let the official receiver know that I have forwarded to them a discharge letter, after all they are the ones that contacted them. Since that email, I have received nothing. Any help on this please.

With regards to your Bankruptcy - I had the exact same problem with Lloyds 2 weeks ago. I was discharged 5 years ago but they insisted I was still bankrupt and they were keeping the money.

I hit the roof - I sent a snotty email to the guy in charge of Lloyds, which might not have been such a good idea. So I followed this up with a polite letter and a copy of my discharge notice. I got a letter back within a couple of days apologising for their mistake and they would refund my the money directly.

I have since had my offer and the cheque is on the way.

So send them a letter explaining your discharged and enclose a copy of your discharge notice, that should sort it out.

    Mich.
    Hi Mich,

Can you pm with the letter that you sent because at the moment I am not getting anywhere although I sent an email attaching my discharge letter. I also emailed the CEO a link from directgov which explains clearly about bankruptcy and discharge. Since that email I have not heard anything.
  • Hi All,
I have managed to get an offer from Tesco Bank re the PPI cover they automatically added - however, they say I can only claim back to 2003 unless I have the origonal statements prior to this.
Are they allowed to do this? Does any one know?
    Thanks

Hi. Not a newbie but not been posting for a while.
I put a claim in with Halifax (after trying for 2 days to find out who Beneficial/Marbles were taken over by) on 29/6/11.
In July I received a letter from Halifax stating they could find no record of my account. Needless to say I copied several statements and sent them with a covering letter. On July 26th I contacted Halifax and asked whether my account details had been located and was assured they had and that my claim date would be from the 29/6/11.
By my reckoning this is tomorrow and I thought I would contact them today and ask for an update.
The customer service person looked at my notes and said a letter had been sent out on 30/9/11 which I have not received. She said she was unable to re-send the letter but would contact the sender and ask them to contact me either by phone or letter.

When I asked what would have happened if I had not contacted them today she apologised but this was 3 weeks ago.
I know I was miss sold PPI as I am a nurse in NHS and took the card out as it was supposed to be special rates with the RCN Visa Card. I paid it off in full in 2009 after having it for over 10 years.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what I do now as I don't want to go to the FOS and how long do I leave it to follow up with another phone call.

Hi. I posted this yesterday and have no replies as yet. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to what I do next. :)

Hi there, there is not a lot you can do other than put a complaint in about what has happened,i would do this as this is not good enough.

I would keep in contact at least every few days to make sure they are dealing with this,Halifax are a nightmare to get payouts from just lately hopefully yours will be sorted sooner rather than later.
