PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

They all come out with this "final response" rubbish. Nothing is final until you are happy.
Write to them and ask
Capital One just love passing the buck to the FOS, THEY ARE A BACK STREET BANK
Cheers again for the advice, I've just spoken to Capital One to request a transcript of the telephone conversation in which I have to pay £10 for but the adviser said it can take up to 40 days to process I'm just worried in case I don't receive it in time (as I think you have to contact the Financial Ombudsman within
8 weeks of Capital One's final response.
I hope they provide me with a cd copy of the conversation rather than a written version.
Thanks

In 1997 I took out a loan with First National Bank to which PPI was attached with next to no explanation. In 1999 I extended this loan which meant the outstanding amount from the first loan was supplemented by extra money. Needless to say more PPI was added on.
My first question is, do I claim on these as separate loans ? If I don't they won't fit in with one of the standard letters.
The second loan was for ten years though I had no intention of letting it last anything like that long. Is it true that PPI has a term only five years anyway?
I did pay off the loan early but I received no rebate from First National for any unused PPI.
Does anybody have any advice please ?

Hi,
It's been a long time since I've been on the site after successfully reclaiming PPIs. However, on Saturday I received a letter from Lewis Debt Collection regarding a balance owing to Moneyway (who I hadn't even heard of but, apparently, used to be Secure Trust Bank) of £267.50 in respect of a loan I took out with Secure Trust in 2003 and which I thought I had paid off in 2006 after I had sold my house. This letter is the first I've heard from Secure Trust/Moneyway that I actually owed anything and its now 5 and a half years on! Can they actually still chase someone for money owed after this length of time? Apparently, Lewis Debt Collection company bought this debt from a company called Direct who, to my knowledge, have never tried to contact me.
This got me thinking and after going through loads of papers awaiting shredding (thankfully I hadn't already done it - lucky I'm a bit of a hoarder!) I found a letter from Secure Trust confirming the loan and PPI which I had completely forgotten about! I can't find the PPI paperwork though.
Today I've filled in the questionnaire to reclaim the PPI and wonder if anyone else has had any success with reclaiming from this company. It would give me great pleasure to be able to reclaim the PPI after they've chased me for a debt I didn't even know I had! :rotfl:0 -

Eamon this is a lot of rubbish. If they want £10 to provide the transcript are they saying they actually have one, I very much doubt it, its called the "Capital One fob off"
What a load of rubbish saying it will take up to 40 days to process.
If you would like to PM me with your email address, I will draft a letter for you to send to them0 -

Hi Ray and welcome
Yes I would complete these separately in my opinion, this way you know they cannot get confused, give them as much info as possible and keep copies of each one as well, just in case you need to refer back to them again at some point.
Also make them aware you've only recently became aware of the PPI mis selling and believe this applies to you, and now you are pursuing on a reclaim of the PPI with your reasons.
Good luck, send them to the ones who sold and set these up for you from the start.
I note you said you taken another out which paid off another, was the broker the same one as the first one?
If not then pursue the other on the first one, hope this helps, please keep us posted, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi Ellbee
I would certainly give it a shot, and hope for the best.
I have not heard of them myself but wishing you luck on your reclaiming.
In regards of the other matter I am not sure about them chasing on this, but know what you mean with it being 2003, maybe someone will know the answer for that one, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanks for your reply, they mentioned in the letter that as far as they are concerned this would be their final response & that I can contact the Financial Ombudsman.
So should I write/phone Capital One for a copy of the transcript before contacting the Financial Ombudsman?
Many Thanks
Eamon
Hi Eamon
Sometimes even if given the final decision, they may still consider, depending on what further information you may have, if you think they have overlooked your reasons, I would tell them that and ask them to reconsider by 14 days, if they do not come back with a new decision in your favour, or nothing at all then move on to the FOS.
If you do this though, give them as much further info as possible, if you think you may have missed anything last time as well then add that info, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
