  • Thanks, its one of them annoying things isn't it. You know it will come eventually........but you want it now!! :D

    Hi ,

Playing this waiting game is disgusting.

If the banking industry is so 'heavily' regulated how come it takes so long to pay out,... the Halifax have never given me any time scales for pay out, every time I ring they give a non committal answer. I am totally unaware of an official Halifax spokesperson quoting 8 weeks to pay out...

We seem to be all hanging on to a false promise....:(:(:(:(
    Money Saving-Reclaiming-And Won!!!:j:j:j:j:j

    £33,000 refunded!!! :j:j:j:j:j
  • Week 18 since complaint and so far:

Letter 24th June saying got 16 weeks etc
Rang them last Friday 22nd sept and was told complaint had been upheld and they wrote to me on 26th August to advise me.... surprise surprise that letter never reached me
So, he promised to put a copy in the post that day and surprise, surprise that never came either.
So phoned again this morning and was told that actually their process has changed and they do not need to have the acceptance letter now. They will simply send out a calculation and a cheque (maybe together he said, or maybe separately, he didnt know) So that's a month since they upheld and no further progress and they are saying that hopefully the calcs and payment will be weeks rather than months....

Just seems like so many people were sent a letter on 26th August and never got them...where did they all go????

    Di hiya question for you.

following on from my many rants regarding opus their 16 weeks ended today and guess what nothing.

Well ive decided not to call them again as all they do is nothing which winds me up even more.

now what they say is the 16 weeks is from the date THEY acknowledge the complaint not when i sent it. so my 16 weeks has now turned to oct (end).

what do you suggest i do wait till october or resend it to back to the fos

can i send a holding letter / letter b4 acton????

    Hi Rae

Sorry for my delay in responding.

Have you contacted/emailed the CEO department?

I would otherwise write a email to the customer team or send a letter by 1st class recorded delivery, and tell them you will be in touch with the Financial Service Association (FSA) not to be confused with the FOS.

As the FSA are the ones who given the extra time, or maybe ask your local MP to write to them on your behalf.

Let us know honey, good luck x;)

    Well done Di.:j

I have stopped thinking about when Halifax are going to pay out. At least i know it is upheld and I suppose thats all that matters. the money will come when they are good and ready and like others I am not prepared to be in phone queue for 20 mins or more especially when i am trying to work as well.

Thanks Smitchy, you are quite right and I realised after I'd sent it that i meant to say "to deal with your complant", and not "reply", so apologies if I misled anyone.
I have an update on Lloyds claim, and I am delighted to tell you all that this morning the sum of £2072.91 was credited to my account. RESULT? Absolutely. However, things with Lloyds NEVER run smooth so imagine my shock when i also noticed this moring that a further £2087.04 has ALSO been credited to my account! Yep, it looks like they've paid me twice although the amounts differ!
I won't spend the extra payment of course, but I will sit on it and wait for them to come to and ask for it back. I am certainly not going to waste anymore of my time or money calling their 0845 number, sitting on hold for over an hour just to tell them they have made YET ANOTHER MISTAKE! i wonder how long it will take them to notice, less a 16, 12 or 8 weeks I expect! :O)

It is a criminal offence under the Theft Act to retain money paid to you in error, its known as Retaining a Wrongful Credit, so I would advise them asap if I were you.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............
  • Hi All, I haven't been on this part of the forum for some time and reading through a lot has changed since I made my claims.

I am claiming on behalf of my mother in law who has been plagued with numerous phone calls from claim companies  She is getting quite worried and it's been a hard job convincing her that she can do this herself - or at least with my help!!!!

What I need to know is, do I need to include a covering letter with the questionnaire or do I just send out the questionnaire? If so has anyone got a template?

When I did it for myself a while back there were letter templates.

Also, when the banks are settling up are they automatically adding on the 8% that would be applied by a court or do you need to specify that?
    Cheers all.
  • Derwent,
I work in finance and so am VERY aware of the implications of knowingly keeping money that doesn't belong to you, and I shall return it on their request. Bear in mind, they have had my cash since 2004 and no doubt earn't plenty of interest on it, so now it's my turn. As i said, i have moved it so it doesn't get caught up with my own cash, and shall await their request but there is no way i am going to the expense of any more telephone calls or stamps. their mistake, they can come & get it! If we weren't all really fed up with ALL the mistakes these banks are making & getting away with lately, then your absolutley right, but right now, Lloyds are fair game and if they want it, they can come and get it and I shan't quibble.

I have had 2 successful complaints with Barclays , the approach I used is to call first to register the complaint , If you or your mother still bank with Barclays , this should be ok .Barclays then sent me the questionaire in the post . They add on the 8% simple interest , I don't think you need to specifically ask for this .

Thanks wilfy, she'll be too nervous over the phone. I'll send off the questionnaire and then follow it up with a call. She's signed it to say that I can act for her.
