PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

I've recently tried a little experiment with RBS that proves this point entirely.
I phoned them about an old loan account and gave the account number and PPI policy number. They said they'd look into it for me.
A few days later they contacted me to say that they had no record of this loan and therefore couldn't investigate.
"No problem", said I, "I have the original copy of the documentation here so I'll scan it and email it to you".
So I scanned it but deliberately blurred it a bit so some of the numbers were hard to read. I put a note on the email slightly misstating on the high side some of the blurred numbers 'for clarification'.
Lo and behold, I got a response from RBS saying that the numbers I'd quoted were incorrect and should in fact be X, Y and Z.
"How do you know", I replied, "as you have no record of the original loan according to your letter of response to me. If you have no record then how can you know the figures stated by me are wrong ?"
"Ah", they said, "we have now managed to trace the original documents in our archive".
"So", I said, "you did have them all along but you just couldn't be ar5ed to look for them and thought you'd fob me off. I wonder what the FOS would make of that ?"
They have now upheld my complaint in just 6 days :rotfl:
Wow.......thanks for that dewent...congratulations on your hard work!!:):)
The banks are dodgy at times...you see, the thing is..this is what they are fighting me over, i have no agreements, i know there is ppi on there as all my loans were the same, however they will only pay out on 1 due to the retention policy :mad: (liars) i am getting on the phone to the FSA and ICO this morning then i am going to send them a sock-it-to em email!!:money:
I a just bothered as i have emailed them so much that they send me to the fos!!:(
Thank you for your help:)xx0 -

What are they debating on? Is it the fact that they don't know if there was ppi or are they saying there was no ppi?
Maybe a call to the ICO or FSA would be good for some advice about it.
Sorry can't be more help at the moment sunny:o

I think the fsa and the ico are deffo the answer now sunny i hope you get this sorted out. the fsa rulings are that the banks have to investigate all rolling consolidation loans whether the banks like it or not0 -

Unfortunately I can't allege tickbox tampering; I still think the fact that they've never told me it's optional when activating new cards, etc., should count for something but knowing the luck I'm having this year, I think it's unlikely.
Cheers and good luck to you
Karen
You'd think that with all the complaints about cap 1 now karen the fos would be taking notice, cap 1 do this rejection thing all the time.0 -

I complained about 2 credit cards that was still charging me for PPI after I had claimed on them for 12 months after an accident and then informed them I would not be able to work again for several years due to injury. They have continued to charge me so I wrote to both of them expecting them to return the last 2 years premium. They were both underwritten by Barclays. The one wrote and offered me the last 2 years premiums which I accepted. The other took theit time but have offered me full compensation of £2,800 even though i had made a claim - of course I accepted but now wonder whether I can go back to the first card that gave me £75 back and reclaim and I assumed they would cover me for the whole time I am unable to work. Or having accepted that is that door now bolted.0

It's a tricky one jen generally when you accept a settlement thats it the door is closed on going back again as it were
welcome to the forum jen you could as an aside talk to the lender and see what they say it's worth a try.0 -
hi there
I first read about this website in April this year and, I downloaded the template letters and sent them off to RBS for 5 loans in May this year and have been given a refund (goodwill gesture) of £12,000 which will be paid in to my partners account in 28 working days so a big thankyou to everyone involved.
its just a shame that I have to wait another 28 working days to be able to spend it.0
