  • Well, I have now fired off to the FOS my PPI complaint which HFC refused to uphold on a loan dating back to Nov 2003. Hopefully I get some success on that.

Does anyone know how long FOS take to make a decision? I am expecting this one to drag into next year if I am being honest.

He's not alone, I done this too with one of my loans, he should be able to claim back the ppi as one of the others said in an earlier posting. Anything awarded to him will probably be taken off his arrears, but the total of his amount owing should drop a bit as well.

Is he managing to get his debts sorted out now, or is he still kind of burying it. The people at the CCCS are brilliant at helping out. Even having a look at the other boards, Debt Free Wannabee etc could be helpful, there are loads of folks on there that know ALOT. He should be very thankful to have you around to help kick start this, I didn't have anyone but have came out the other side alright after eventually seeing the light.:A Just awaiting 5 loan ppi's with RBS and one CC with BoS, had two loan ppi's with Clydesdale Bank refunded last week, and a fair sized CC paid off in full with it,:D

against my better advise he is still half buried but has only carers allowance to pay them off. his pride is preventing him from claiming esa or whatever else he is entitled to atm

i am working on him however

is this being fast tracked or just being left for the fos to sort out in there own time? anyway unfortunately it could take up to 2-3 years it depends a lot on how cooperative the banks are, as you'll see from my post below theres a lot of people who've jumped on the reclaiming bandwagen since the j.r

Hi there, what year was the 2nd loan? and how far have you got with FOS?.

    Hi amersall,

The second loan started in Novemeber of 2007.

I only contacted the FOS this morning to discuss the first loan - once they had taken the details they offered to chase up the second loan for us as well,

They took details of both and have given me two seperate reference numbers.

I was told that First Plus have to contact me within 12 weeks as before but if they don't, or if I am not happy with the outcome, I have to contact the FOS again !

I guess FOS involvement is a good thing !?

Good to hear you're helping out, however, speaking from experience and almost anyone who's been in the same boat will tell him the same thing, once you seek help he will start to feel alot better.

My advice is go to DFW board and ask some of the 'experts' on there, there may be other things for him to consider too, like IVA's, as if he's only got that coming in, he needs a certain amount to live on, and if he doesn't have enough for that he won't have enough to pay off debts, unfortunately alot of these companies will use alot of underhanded ways to try and pressurise him, causing him un-neccesary stress.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

sunny baby, sounds as if it might be good news, I know the banks are complete w***ers oops bankers but I doubt they'd do that to you, in fact i'd go as far as saying that if they were going to reject they probably would have, but looks good.
Let me know how you get on, and i'll give you my address to send the beers too, oops forgot i'm not drinking anymore, coffee will be fine, hehehe:coffee:
