each loan paying the previous one off and increasing each loan, I finally paid it off about 7 years ago
not even sure if I had ppi--would it be worth me going to local branch to find out
Hi there and welcome
Yes try to find out, or just get a reclaim in as well if you want to, as your not sure you were paying for PPI, then it seems you have a case anyway.
To make a reclaim on all of them, and if you do not have the account numbers for all, contact them or call to see them, they should be able to check this out for you.
To reclaim, you just complete the reclaim questionnaire (step 3 below), you can do these separately or together if all mis sold for the same reasons, personally to save any confusion I would do separately but that is up to you of course.
Send to the address below and remember to keep copies for yourself as well, they normally have 8 weeks but the FSA have give the main of the banks more time, such as now currently 12 weeks.
Good luck on your reclaiming.;)

I have just recently realised that I could claim for the mis-sold GAP insurance and mechanical breakdown insurance on agreement I had with Direct Auto Finance/Yes Car Credit from 2003.
I have only yesterday sent my initial letter off to Direct Auto Finance and included my original car finance agreement, a table of paymenst/costs that I made for the insurances and the FOS questionnaire.
I just wondered if anyone has had any luck with claiming back from this company and how long it took? I've googled around and from what I can see DAF seem to be one of the least likely to settle the claim - is this true?
Thanks for any help!

Whoop Whoop.
13 weeks in and just had letter from Halifax to offer refund of all the ppi premiums paid (inc of interest) plus simple interest of 8%. Loan was paid off last November. Total amount of loan was £19314.00 and total amount paid for insurance loan was £3774.96 (although the actual cash price of the insurance was £2914.99). Does this mean we will get the whole of the insurance loan payment back plus 8% or I am being rather naive. Anyway shaking with the shock of it all. I expect hubby will be doing cartwheels at work!!
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. Now to just accept and wait for money (Probably will take another 13 weeks!!).

You will get back the total ppi less any rebate they gave you for this when you settled, the ppi you actually paid and 8%.0 -

Hi Scotty
If you go onto the Financial Ombudsman site and troll through,it will give you the official figures of every Company that has been complained about and upheld by the Ombudsman
Hope this makes sense0 -
Second guessing myself now ...called santander on 24th aug re cahoot flexible loan ... Reclaim ppi.. Gentleman i spoke to said i have submitted claim and you should hear back in 2-3 weeks...called today to see was there any progress ...advisor said could see claim on account and it was currently being investigated... Going back through paperwork turns out dec 2002 when took loan out wasnt even working hadnt worked for 6yrs previous to that started working for agency oct 2003, was single parent from jan 2002 wondering now why on earth they gave me loan of 7.5k and 1k credit card!!!
Anyway i can vaguely?? remember cancelling ppi when work contract ended and enquired re a claim and was told wasnt eligible...my question is if claim open and being investigated is this a sure sign ppi present or would this be the case regardless of whether ppi there or not advisor i spoke to today stated may be a delay over the 2-3weeks for everything to get worked out am assuming if im wrong and was never ppi there id have had notification by now lol sorry for ramblings think my claim pretty valid tho if on there if only had the confirmation arghh lolOn the road to financial freedom.... one MSE penny at a time....:T0 -
Hi there, you may have to go for the insurer with this one as it was 2003,the company may not have been regulated thenbut the insurer may have been,if the insurer says no,then the FOS can help with this.
See what response you get to your letter first.
The company does still exist - the registered address is
DIRECT AUTO FINANCE INSURANCE SERVICES LIMITED
NO. 1
GODWIN STREET
BRADFORD
WEST YORKSHIRE
UNITED KINGDOM
BD1 2SU
(from the Companies House register).
Complain to them first, if you remain dissatisfied with their response (or lack thereof within 8 weeks) go to FOS who will tell you if they subscribed to the GISC code. If they did FOS will adjudicate.

Did you pay the loan off early or on its due date. If on due date you will indeed get £3774.96 plus 8% which will be around £300 by the time you fet paid. If early then you will get back all the contributions you made to the ppi each month plus 8% on each contribution from the date it was paid until settlement less any refund you got off the early settlement.(if any)

Also received questionaire from shop direct re complaint i had made in 2009 regarding their account cover plus insurance basically their ppi ...id forgotten all about this states complaint rec jan 2009 however policy not cancelled till aug 2010! They stated were willing to reopen case and further investigate if i filled in questionaire, i returned questionaire uncompleted with cover letter stating they held all this info already as was taken at the time policy was started (i have no idea if it was but feel it certainly should have been) am wary about furnishing them with all that info, income , outgoings, health etc feel like they trying to trip me up and gain info they should really have on their system anyway to validate selling of the policy. anyone had any success with these? On the road to financial freedom.... one MSE penny at a time....:T0
