PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi guys
I had put my claim in at Halifax.for my PPI, and have recieved a letter to say that they will pay it back to me in the sum of £38.00.
PPI has been on the account since 2008 and it's been paid every month, but the sum seems a little low in the grand scheme.
They card had a limit of £500 but I had never exceeded this.
Where do I go from here? Or would you say that this seems about right?
Thanks
This sounds way off the scale have you any paperwork to prove what you've paid.0 -

Not sure if I have come to the right place, apologies if I am posting on someones thread!
I have recently reclaimed for mis sold PPI that I took out on a FirstPlus loan that was settled early after just one year (full 12 months payment). I am unsure how much I should expect back as compensation.
Loan Details
Cash loan £35600.00
The PPI loan was £8718.44
Total Credit £44318.44
Monthly PPI payments of £84.01
Monthly loan payment £343.01
Total monthly payment £427.02
APR 8.4%
Loan Term 180 months
Settlement figure
Total payable under agreement £75067.89
Less rebate on early settlement -£33096.57
Plus admin charge £150.00
Total payable to settle £42121.32
The letter doesn't detail how much PPI was rebated. It states;
The rebate allowed has been calculated in accordance with the consumer credit (rebate on early settlement) regulations 1993, and include a rebate of the PPI premium (where appropriate).
Not sure if any PPI was rebated at settlement or not.

i had a first plus loan for £20k in 2007 and settled it 8 months later (we sold house and used the profit to settle it early)
Have sent Barclays a reclaim questionaire for it and am waiting for a response. Just wondered what i am actually reclaiming, is it just the 8 PPI payments + interest or is it those plus the PPI added as a lump sum to the loan as we settled early and there is no mention of any refund in the settlement amount?
Hi, pretty much same as me but my Firstplus loan ran for 2years before settlement.
When you settled the ppi was all still included. Thats why its illegal as they have added it to the loan upfront.
I have just had offer for full ppi premium paid back and 8% interest.
You will get the same. (less early settlement figure but that will not be much).
Good Luck.0 -
No it does not matter!! if you were wrongly sold this insurance then you were mis sold.
Look here for reasons for mis sell and just see how many apply to you.
Thanks to all helpers.
I'm really hopeful to get somewhere and will keep you posted.
I'm thinking of similar with an HBoS loan - and, I'd really like to see if I can win against charges on an Egg credit card. I'm gonna be busy!0 -
I just wanted to add a little bit that might help people who are just starting to claim PPI as I have been helped so much and want to give something back:T. This has probably been mentioned loads before but I am just starting to claim for a few loans with Lloyds from the 1990's. I had no info on them other than the bank account number that I made the monthly payments from, which was closed in 2000. No amounts that the loans were for, no start date, nothing:( These loans went back to 1988 til 1999. Anyway I decided to nip into town and see if my Lloyds held any info at all. I asked the young cashier if it was possible to see if they had any info and he tried tapping loads of numbers into his computer and couldnt come up with anything. Then a lady, possibly the manager came over who I recognised from 20 years back!! She said thought I recognised your voice what's the problem? I explained it to her and she said just wait a minute and disappeared, then came back with 3 numbers which were all my old loan account numbers. :T
So it may well be worth a trip into a branch, if you have no info, you have nothing to lose. I've just phoned the LLoyds PPI line given my loan numbers and claims have been started. Usually I have all the info so fill in the forms, but this was a bit easier with just the loan numbers.Beware!!!! Glitching is addictive:rotfl:0 -
Okay, this is what I wrote a couple of weeks ago:
"I complained to HSBC about my mis-sold PP! back in May, got the usual letters about investigating my complaint, and then the "it'll take 16 weeks" letter. I rang HSBC about my complaint, just to check it's progress 3 weeks ago, and they told me my complaint had been upheld and they had passed it on to calculations, and I should hear from them in the next couple of weeks. When I hadn't received anything I rang them yesterday and was told a lot of claims had to be recalculated, due to them mis -calculating, and I would have to wait to the end of August/beginning of September, coincidently that's exactly 16 weeks from the beginning of my claim. Is this usual for the bank to play slow-ball or have they genuinely had to re-calculate lots of claims?"
Just got off the phone to them, as tomorrow is the last day of my 16 weeks, they've told me they're behind and are "hoping" to get a response to me next week. Can they just keep pushing back the date? 16 weeks is set by the FOS right? Is there anything I can do?0 -
Just had my first failure. RBS agree that I had a credit card with them (well, NatWest) from 12th September 1995 which was closed in March 2003. However, they say they only have transaction records from January 2003 - so only 2 months worth of the 90 months I had the card.
They can see the card opening date on their system, and that I had a PPI policy on it, but without the transaction records they can't do anything. I'm not sure where I go from here with it, anyone got any ideas ? I have the original copy of the PPI policy but it seems that doesn't help at all.Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -
Hi All
I had a letter from the Halifax in June saying that the PPI that I had on a credit card may have been missold after they refused to pay out after I had a long spell off work. In the letter they said it may have been possible to make a retrospective claim due to the fact it wasnt explained correctly to me.
After a few weeks they tried to explain that they were not going to pay out as there was no outstanding balance on the card. So I told them I was making a complaint and went through all the form filling over the phone.
Just spent 15 minutes on hold only to be told that they are still looking into it and they have until 11th of october 16 weeks since original letter.
This better be worth it as I am once again off work due to an operation .
Thanks for listerning to my moansIm not really mad...0 -
