    Hi
You seem very angry at the banks and I don’t blame you. I had allot of trouble with MBNA they disgust me. They were the first to give me a credit card when I was young (only just out of school) they raised the credit limit almost every 4 months without taking into account my income or other debts. I take responsibility for the way I handled my money I overspent I was young and very silly with money but they did seem to take full advantage of this every step of the way. When it came to the crunch, when all credit cards were maxed, banks would offer me no more consolidation loans and my bank Lloyds TSB helpfully suggested I declared myself bankrupt! This was at the age of 19 and the job that I always wanted to do (the job I now actually do) does not allow bankrupts undischarged or otherwise so I could never have considered taking this option. I chose to go with a debt management company who restructured all of my debt using the consumer credit act so I only paid back on a monthly basis what I could afford. I am happy to say that most of my creditors took into account my situation and did not cause a fuss about the lower monthly payments, most of them reduced or froze the interest and I think acknowledged that I was doing the best I could to pay back every penny of the money I owed. This is with the exception of MBNA, I can not tell you how evil they became, constant phone calls, threatening letters, charges galore, refusal to engage with the debt management agency, refusal to accept the restructured payment...the list is endless! I currently have a PPI claim going through with them at the moment but they certainly did effect my credit rating the most and the PPI charges are astronomical with this company and I feel very aggrieved by the fact that this was added to my account without my knowledge and had a massive impact on the minimum payment. I would be grateful if you would send me your template in regard to damages. The fraud legislation that you posted does cover what has happened in most cases but there are massive of defences that would be raised and I think since the banks have now lost a civil court case being made to pay back money it may be viewed as sufficient restorative justice. Have you taken your concerns to the police in relation to this?

Hi there, firstly for the moment, the police i doubt would take it on as it would involve 10's of thousands of people and they would not have the resources even though it is a criminal offence

However, it only needs a few people to successfully win fraud over the banks and the authorities would then have no option.

Either PM me with your email address with your email address and I will send you the template.

MNBA are indeed a disgraceful bank and its difficult to understand why the FSA licence them in the UK

That is theft, another serious criminal offence.

As MNBA is an arm the Bank of America, just google all the problems in USA about Bank of America.

As a group they truly are the PITTS and everyone should think twice or more before dealing with MNBA

Hi mate yes i mentioned the word fraud in an email to the ceo of LTSB did'nt get a reply which i thought strange.

Hi Cappo, these banks know they have de-frauded people, what can they say, it's only a matter of time that all this will come out and probably some of the smaller outfits like Capital One will vanish or be taken over
None of us need or want the "Capital One" outfits anyway

Yeah I signed upto this card at the Vital Health and Beauty Exhibition in London, they had allot of 'touts' out around the show and were offering free prize draws and gifts when you filled out an application form. The woman who I did the application with didn’t mention PPI at all, she did all the writing and it was extremely rushed, she appears to have just ticked the box without a further word about it. There was not even a signature box under the PPI box to confirm that I wanted it I know I should have read it before signing anything but it was a lesson learnt. I agree with you whole heartedly, they are the pitts, I have heard they are pulling out of the UK market which is good news. I certainly warn everyone I know about becoming involved with them. They have at least been severely reprimanded by the FOS for the way they treat people in financial difficulty but I doubt this will have much of an effect on them and their shocking practices.

That is a really good point Cappo I didn’t think to include that on my form. I did quite alot of other ranting tho!...I think I will be throwing my toys out of my pram, picking them up and throwing them back out if they don’t uphold my complaint!!

Interesting reading the posts about MBNA, my OH and I both claimed and were successfull against MBNA re ppi and I have to say after emailing the CEO the complaints were handled very efficiently and quickly.
However, a few months ago my OH employers were having some problems and all overtime etc was stopped. Immediately this happened I sent MBNA a letter to see if he could be put on a payment plan for even 6 months with reduced interest rates etc. After several letters, phone calls etc, he was eventually put on to a payment plan for the lifetime of the balance just last month. The balance at the end of Feb was about £4,200 but even though I never missed a payment, admittedly some were not the minimum payment but each month I paid at least £60 off the balance, the outstanding amount grew to well over 5k which put him over his credit limit. So as well as paying interest most months there was £24 in charges. The thing that has worried me about this situation the most, to the point where some nights I can't sleep with worry is that apparently this will have a negative effect on his credit rating. As some of my mortgage is still endowment linked and due to be paid out in just over 2 years, I am greatly worried as to whether or not we will get a loan to cover the shortfall.
I kept MBNA in the loop completely, but they were EXTREMELY unhelpful, and unsympathetic. It's now gonna take over 5 years to pay off the amount but at least then it will be paid. The card will never ever be used again.
