I'm sure someone has probably asked this but i can't see it in the thread. I think i was mis-sold the PPI on my credit card and would like to make a claim. The only thing is last year was i was made redundant i used the PPI to pay back some of my outstanding balance.

Can i still make a claim?

    yes you can

  • i am new here and i am trying to reclaim my ppi from a loan from the clydsdale bank.Have folk here had much success in reclaiming back ppi from them, i was giving the hard sell about 5 years ago when i took the loan which is no paid off and i was more or less told if no ppi no loan so i took the ppi. Anyway i have had my aknowledgement letter back and then another letter saying they need more time and they would get back to me in 4 weeks. So what is the success rate in getting your ppi back from the clydedale bank.

Spoke to RBS yesterday and they confirmed that they are on track to send out all letters by 31st August. If your claim has been upheld you will have to then sign the letter and return it to them. It will then take them EIGHT to TWELVE weeks to get the money to you. What on earth is difficult about electronic transfers. I'm sure if I owed them money then they would not wait that long. I'm sure they will lose loads of customers after this.

Thanks for this I have been trying all day to get through to RBS on the phone as the 16 week deadline on my claim (Nat West) is up tomorrow. I have two telephone numbers neither of which get answered.

Hi chas don't know what the success rate is for clydsdale but you should be ok.

Hi there, get a claim in for mis sell, put the other loan number as well,as you will have had ppi carried forward from the 1st loan to the 2nd one.

This is the addressCustomer Care Team
    Firstplus Financial Group Plc
    The Avenue Business Park
    Pentwyn
    Cardiff
    cf23 8ff

We/I believe we were mis sold the ppi on the above account number.
1)We/I were not told that the ppi was in effect another loan that was added to the original loan and was repayable over the loan term with interest.

    2) We/I were not told that the ppi only covered us for 5 years, but the ppi would still be on the loan to term end with interest.

    3) We/I were told that if we did not make a claim on the ppi ,after 5 years we would recieve the ppi as cashback, and to look on this as savings plan.. But were not told that the ppi would be on the loan to term end with interest and the cashback of ppi would not include the interest that we paid over the 5 years.

In line with the FOS recommendations it is requested that the overall situation be restored as if PPI had never been included. This will entail:
    a) A refund of the monthly payments that have actually been paid towards the overall loan in excess of those that would have been needed, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy;
    b) Restructuring of the loan going forward so that the amount owed, the monthly repayments, the term and the charges reflect those that would have applied, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy.
    c) In addition, interest at the rate of 8% simple per annum to any excess payments made from the time each payment was made to the point that Firstplus pays them back to us. We/i believe we were not given enough information on this ppi to make an informed decision. Had we/i known the full cost of this ppi we would not have taken it.

Unless you can prove without doubt that this PPI policy was fair, reasonable and suitable for my/our circumstances we/I will require you to rearrange the loan as if PPI had never been included on the above loan.

Cheers amersall - what would you say my chances of success are and what sort of timescale am I likely to face ?

    Hi chasfhu,
I have a claim in for two loans with clydesdale, we got to 12 weeks, and got another letter which crossed in the post with emails I sent. They basically said it was taking longer than expected and a handler would be in touch once they had resolved the complaint, this was with no time limit.
At this point I emailed ppi customer services as I had their email, and copied in the ceo, expressing how disappointed I was with their service, plus they weren't part of the Judicial Review so weren't allowed to use the 16 week excuse, although they hadn't, just kept sending out excuses.
I was then emailed by a manager, gave some more details, then she phoned the OH(loan was in her name) and she stated that it was in the final stages and an offer would be in the post within the next couple of days, this was in the middle of last week, we're giving them till the end of this week and if no reply I'll email them again to chase this up and ask for a copy by email.
Just for info, their letters tend to take around 6/7 days to reach us from the date that is on the letter, keep a note of dates and keep in touch with them, the least you can give them is 8 weeks, they will write to you at this time and probably advise you that you can go to the FOS if you're not happy, best to wait to see what they come up with as FOS will probably take a good 12-18 months to solve.
If you want the email addresses just let me know.
CB are also sending out letters to some people telling them that they may have been mis-sold.
Good luck and keep us posted.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.
