PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi, Im new to all this, but about 2 months ago I made a claim for PPI to HSBC, I got a letter back today stating they are offering me £232 but they do not accept the allegations I made of mis selling but are prepared to settle the complaint.
But the original figure with the loan was £290.16 and this loan was took out 6 years ago. The figures in the letter are as follows
Original Loan protection premium £290.16
Term of Loan 24 Months
APR of Loan 16.9%
PPI Premium Redress £146
Plus taxable interest at 8% £75
Plus early repayment costs inlcuding 8% interest £11
OFFER £232
Is this HSBC trying to "fob" me off with a reduced figure although im entitled to more? Have they tried this tactic with others?
BAring in mind I defaulted on the loan and it was passed to a collection agency, but I did eventually pay back the amount through the collection agency. Whether that is relevant Im not sure, any help would be appreciated. Thank you0 -

Hi chris and welcome i've now had something similar with them had 3 complaints for credit cards and a loan got a similar letter we will pay out on this occasion but do not accept your allegations etc did'nt make me an offer in this letter though they said they wil contact me again in another 4 weeks with the calculations, good luck. you having settled through a collection agency should'nt make any difference to your figure chris only in the instance your loan was still live and in arrears.0 -

Well done on your win :j:j0 -
we took out a claim against Natwest and we were succesful and theworking daysy agreed to pay us £4700. We sent the signed paper back to them at the end of June accepting their offer. The paper wsaid we would be payed in full within 28 days, it is now 7 weeks and no sign of the money.
My Husband rang them last week and they promised to have the cheque in the post that afternoon. We are still waiting. I rang the ombudsman but they have such a backlog of cases they couldn't help. can anybody advice me on what to do next or on how long we are going to have to wait for this money?
Thanks
If it is similar to the letter I received from NatWest it said we will endeavour to pay within 28 working days.
I returned an acceptance letter on 10th June and eventually received payment last week.0 -

Thanks for this post at least we know what to expect in terms of payment timescales with RBS. I'll take the advice given in related posts once the 28 days elapses.0 -
Hi everyone!
Lots of good news this week.....huge congratulations to all winners!:j:beer:
Need some advice,please!
I sent a SAR to M&S to try to get some details re: a loan I had with them, years ago. I also have a Chargecard and a CC with them, both still open. I had to e-mail them to ask them to look into the SAR request again after they returned details of the only the Chargecard.
I got a reply today with not one but six loan account numbers!!!!!! Feel slighty ashamed I cant remember these...wasn't 100% sure I had even one loan with them!:o
Anyway, apart from the account numbers they say regretably they do not have any further info re: any of these loans as they are closed. They do date back to the 1990s and I do not know if there was even any PPI added (guessing there was as PPI has been added to everything else I opened at the time!).
I can't find any paperwork so is that it do you think? Any ideas what I could do,if anything?
Thanks as always for any advice!0 -

I would say go for it with a reclaim, but if they don't have any paperwork, do you have some where you can prove that you had ppi, don't get me wrong if you had ppi on it and said that you had proof and they didn't then I think they'd pay out, although known most of the lenders they would probably miraculously find the paperwork in these cases. When you ask them for the details with no claim going in they tend to say oh we can't find any paperwork and then you submit your complaint, all of a sudden they find everything, phone calls, agreements, demands and needs questionnaires etc etc
Good luck and keep us posted, go for it, the worst they'll do is say no!Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Thanks so much for the quick reply! You're a star!
Right I'll give it a go.....nothing to loose and as a lady at Santander told me they don't mind anyone putting in a complaint as it's keeping them in work!
Now, do i need to put seperate questionaires in for each account number or do you think I should maybe just send a letter or e-mail covering all account numbers, bearing in mind I have no info re:dates or amounts etc.? I could then put in the letter that ' I believe PPI was added to the loans and mis-sold because........'0 -
Hi there, someone who can help with figures will be along soon to help you with this.
Well done on your win :j:j
Thank you for the reply, that would be helpful. What im worried about is if there trying to settle with say maybe a third less than im die. Im sure if they tried this across the board they would save themselves millions.....at our expense0 -
Hi All and special thanks to Di for her private message reply when i couldn't post on the site earlier, regarding my Wallis card..
My question is I have just been looking up all account and was refiling all the paperwork when I found a letter to my partner dated 12th Aug 2011 re his ppi on his loan with santander- hes self employed he has medical problems hence being self employed and only working part time, I pay all the bills his only outgoing is his loan, which he took out in Feb this year. When I asked him about the letter he said he felt he would only get the loan if he agreed to it-but its useless.
I was so upset at Santander I typed an email and he sent it asking for his premiums back and that the ppi be removed.
Am I right that ppi is no good for self employed people and do people suggest I fill out the claim for or wait until I get an email reply?
Thanks
Lisa0
