PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hi,
My girlfriend has been paying PPI for the last 2 years and she only just told me she was under the impression she needed it to get the lower interest rate ?!?! can the bank do this?
Should she cancel this PPI as its not needed as the monthly payment we could cope with still if one of us lose a job.
The bank is Halifax also and its a personal loan!
any advise will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
the bank should not be giving you the impression you needed to purchase the ppi to get a lower interest rate,a commen reason for misselling and no don't cancel the loan ppi until a case for ppi misale has been proven then when the bank puts you back in the position you'd been in if you'd not had the ppi they will take it off the loan for you, does that make sense?0 -

Hello there
possible cases here.
In regards of the mortgage PPI, I have posted a thread to a new thread below, (still within the ppi reclaiming threads) but this way this query will not be missed by the ones knowledgable of mortgage ppi mis selling, so hopefully Dunstonh/MagpieCottage and/or Ronaldo will be able to advice on that actual one.
Title it "Mortgage PPI help".

Some policies do cover for self employment, but I don't think it will in you're case - commission paid. The policy booklet should confirm on this, if you no longer have these details the business should provide them to you free on charge on request.
But in regards of making a reclaim, you simply just complete the reclaim questionnaire - step 3 below, send to the ones who sold you the account, head or complaints dept, and keep a copy for yourself, allow 8 weeks, they should keep you informed and write to ask for more time if required.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi everyone,
Quick question...is it a SAR request I need to do for bank accounts and a CCA request for loans and credit cards?? getting confused as to which letters to send etc.
Many thanks.0 -
Has anyone tried claiming back PPI from Vanquis Bank? I've written to them but they've sent me back my £10 cheque, telling me that the charge they make is most definitely NOT PPI. They take money out of my account each month to cover me if I get ill, or lose my job, but apparently this isn't PPI. I have MS, and there is no way I would have signed up for this as I know they would dodge out of covering me.
Anyone else had this? I tried trawling through the thousands of posts, but my head threatened to explode!!

Reply to them with the £10 cheque and explain that by law they must give you copies of all of your documentation and by returning the cheque they are not following the DPA properly and if they do not comply, you will report them to the FSA.
Once you have the paperwork you can decide yourself if you think you have been missold whatever it is.
What a bunch of cheeky muppets to pre-empt like that. Did you mention that you wanted to claim PPI back or have they just made that assumption?I'm a secret crime fighter

Hiya
A SAR is the one if you want to request for all copies of the data on the accounts, this one is £10 cheque or postal order and takes up to 40 calendar days. Sometimes copies of the agreements are enclosed with the data.
Of for just the copy of the agreement, this shows the amounts and if any ppi and so on.
This one costs £1 cheque or postal order and ask them to provide by 12 days.
If you want a full SAR letter template let us know, cheers and the best of luck x;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hiya
If you have so many accounts with Lloyds TSB they will send all data on all accounts held with them with a one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order, if you do have any of the account numbers of the loans, credit cards and so on, enclose them as well, although they should still send all info by 40 days.
Lloyds have a direct dept for Data requests as below.;)

Hi Caron and welcome
I would therefore ask them to send you the policy details of this cover, you are entitled to have this on free request.
In my opinion though insurance is insurance no matter what type, and if mis sold you should still be able to reclaim, maybe you can still reclaim but change the wording.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi
Further to my letter from Halifax on 3 june saying they had received our complaint and would deal with it within 8 weeks I have now had a letter basically saying:
"We are writing to provide you with a further update. I am sorry for the delay etc. I can confirm we will respond to your complaint as soon as possible and in any event sixteen weeks from the date we received your complaint (which was about 31 May). This is in line with the specific requirements that the FSA has published for the handling of PPI complaints. You can find full details of the FSA's requirements on their website blah blah blah. I am sorry that I have not been able to respond fully to your complaint but rest assured that we are working to resolve your complaint as soon as we can"
Anyway is this more delaying before telling us to forget it and is 16 weeks normal? Sorry I couldnt find my original post to make this make sense.
Thanks
C.
Hi Guys
Further to my post on the forum in June (above I think!). Just got home and phone rang. Hubby answered and then put phone down and then informed me it was the Halifax and he told them "No thanks, he has just got in from work and is trying to relax". QUESTION - would they have rung about the PPI as the last contact we had was in June saying they will resolve our complaint in 16 weeks (we are at 9 weeks this week) or would they send a letter. He thinks that they were just ringing to sell something but they never ring. The number they rang from was 08007312316. Do I thump him now or later??
Thanks.
