PPI Reclaiming Discussion part 4

Hello, I am on DMP and was wondering should I pursue re-claiming PPI for loans and credit cards we took out? Does it cause problems with the DMP going on? Any advice would be appreciated.

I got a loan in Sept 2005 from MoneybackBank.co.uk
The site no longer operates, but it was provided by A&L, who is now Satander correct?
I was missold PPI, but I can't seem to find any of my paper-work from back then.
Will Santander be able to find the information if I don't have the policy number and the like? Will my name and address at the time it was taken out be enough?
Also, apart from them taking a percentage, are the PPI claim companies bad to deal with?
Thanks!0 -

Hi boot it'll make no difference at all but any recovered amounts will be put towards the debt of each lender so say for the sake of example you owe cap 1 10k and win 3k that 3k will be put towards the debt with that lender. If you win an amount where you pay the debt off then the remainder will come back to you as a cheque or a credit to your account, but yes if you have reasons for being misold, put in a claim. good luck0 -

Hi rodd you do not need a cmc to do this it's very basic and simple a cmc will charge upwards of 25% for something you can do yourself, first thing get some account details ask the bank you might find a simple request will do otherwise you can request a sar which is where you pay a 10.00 fee and the bank is obliged by law to provide everything they hold on you.

Thanks for the reply. Wasn't everyone miss-sold PPI?:D I was made redundant and at the time most of the creditors refused to honor the out of work clause. I suppose we could chase all of them and see what falls from the tree.....it's only a letter I guess.DMP # 280

You could try getting in touch with the bank, they may find your details from address and dod etc.rodd-y-ler wrote: »I got a loan in Sept 2005 from MoneybackBank.co.uk

Either go into a branch or telephone.

If you are disabled and cannot write a letter or get to the post office:D:D,then use a company,as i am sure they will have a member of staff who does the posting of letters everyday and they can put yours in with them:D:D the only difference between you going to the post office and them is the small (large!!)addition of the % that they will take off your win to post the said letter.
It is so easy and a claims co cannot do anything more or less than you can do.
You will get all the help you need on this site for free, give it a go.0 -

Hi there
You can still make a reclaim if mis sold on the PPI, and besides if your still paying for this in the balance of your debt it will be reduced as well, in my opinion whilst on a payment plan the ppi is now worthless to you anyway, because your not going to be able to use it, so I would there in your case cancel this and make a reclaim if this applies to you.
You still pursue the ones who set it up by completing the reclaim questionnaire on step 3 below.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3
Complete and send to the complaints or head office of whoever sold you the policy, keep a copy as well, the normal timescale is 8 weeks, but the main of the banks etc have been given more time due to a backlog.
If successful its quite possible they will use the refund towards the debt which will reduce what is owed, and anything remaining plus interest is normally awarded directly to you.
Hope that helps, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi there
First of all, I would have a go yourself, its only a matter of completing a reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 here.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3
There is lots more paperwork involved by using claims companies and of course there will be a cost at the end of it, which would reduce what is rightfully owed to you, so if you have a go yourself and if successful you will get to keep all your refund.
I would call into the branch and they should be able to check the details on the system for you.
However, if you check bank statements from the time you were paying the loan every month, the loan account number may be shown next to the monthly repayment, if you bank online this may allow you to go back to approx 2002.
But do call into your local branch and see if they can help first.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks. I knew it was there and confess I just don't have time at the moment to trawl through the info looking for the links. Hubs says I have to pursue it otherwise there's no point putting the complaint to Cap 1 in the first place.SPCNo.19 #20 (18 £1752.64; 17 £562.86; 16 £678; 15 £1120.92; 14 £416.53; 13 £191.52; 12 £260.48; 11 £480.95; 10 £682.31; 9 £442.64)
