I decided to allow them another 4 weeks before going to the Ombudsman. At the end of another 4 weeks i phoned Egg and was told my claim had gone to the Calculations Dept and i should hear something within about 10 days. Anyhow this morning i received a lovely cheque for £800.82! Amazing! thank you all so much for your advice. Keep up the good work and good luck to others who are still waiting :T
That is fab news!:T:j Well done and Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hopefully Marshalka or robbedof will help you with this,as i dont see how the bank would uphold but not reduce the balance of the loan!!.
This may sound daft:D but has your friend got a breakdown of the account after the "win",as this should be asked for, then you will see what they have done,as the redress should have taken the ppi off the account,so if they say it has, then you need proof of this,i would check this first before you go to FOS as the waiting time at the moment is 1 year plus!!.

However, the initial 8 weeks has passed, and no word from Egg or First Direct, although First Direct have written to me and told me they might now take 16 weeks. I know the banks have been given this extra time to deal with this, but can we still chase them? Is it worth it?
Also, had a loan that I paid off in Dec 2009, but can't remember if there was PPI on it, and no longer have any details. Wrote to lender, using template from this site, including £1 cheque to ask for copies of my agreement, they cashed the cheque, then initially replied saying they were returning my cheque (!?!) and weren't obliged to give me any details because the loan was fully paid off. I wrote to them pointing out they had cashed the cheque and therefore where were my details, they've now replied, sending me a cheque, and saying they don't have to give me anything, and they will no longer deal with me, I have to go to Ombudsman. Is this right? I just want to see the paperwork and I might be wrong! Do I have to go to ombudsman just to get my original loan details, and if not, can anyone direct me to a letter template?
Sorry this is so long, but wondering what to do! Thanks all.

sar the bank cost is £10.00 by postal order or cheque the bank have to respond under the dpa (data protection act) that is the law send the sar here above ,send by recorded delivery give the bank 40 days to respond, they should give you everything relevent to the accounts you had with them this includes loans, credit cards etc. (sorry guys did'nt realise until now you'd all posted answers to this post only just got back in and hadnt refreshed my page)0 -

I worked out that I should have heard again by 7/7/11 but nothing! And after reading on here how so many people have had responses from Egg a lot quicker than I had today I decided to ring them. They just told me that everyone was being dealt with in order, when I said that I had heard of people having their responses through even though they sent thier complains off after mine the guy on the phone checked with some other department only to come back to me and say they are dealing with them all in date order and mine is still in the queue. So I dont even know if its being upheld yet!!
Its so frustrating all this waiting. I know we have had a good response from HSBC and possibly Barclays (First Plus) but still no money has arrived as yet and we could really do with some at the moment, husband been on short time at work and when he got up for work this morning some p***t had slashed all 4 of the tyres on his car so just had to go out to buy 4 new ones!!! So frustrated!!
I received another letter from Egg today!! Dated the 7/7/11 (so exactly 4 weeks after the last one) stating that as I know (I didnt know at all) my account has been taken over by Barclay's they have until 31/8/2011 to sort out my claim. Do you think then that as I sent this off before this dead line date with Barclays that they will be paying up - Egg closed my account but I didnt realise it had been taken over by Barclays!!!0 -

You are welcome, dont let this go and send the email.
Sometimes i think that they dont know what they are doing, this was upheld and you should not have to jump through hoops because the damn bank wont play ball, let me know how you get on.

All crossed here too Dean.
It shouldn't be too long now then, good luck.;)
And that is correct that the main of the banks have been given extra time from the FSA, due to backlogs. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
