  • I'm getting so desperate that I leave work and can't wait to see the post, to see if any ppi letters have come back. How sad am I? :o

Still waiting for a few replies and although we feel really hopeful for 100% success, it looks likely that we'll have to contact the ICO and FOS about some of the creditors.

I really didn't want to do this as some of you on here have had a nightmare waiting but I can't be down, should feel lucky that we have had replies from Halifax and Monument so quickly.

  • Hi All,

Im just starting to claim PPI back for my boyfriend who has had 10 loans with Lloyds TSB since 1989 when he started work, he has also had a credit card with them since that time and he was totally unaware he was paying the PPI on both of them! He didnt even know what ppi was until i told him.
I cant believe Lloyds miss-sold him it on both their loan and their credit cards. He has been paying it for 20 Years!!
He has also had countless other credit cards in the meantime and yet again he was paying it on those too!
I now have a massive job on my hands trying to reclaim it back for him so that he may try and get rid of his MASSIVE debt or he will have no life for the rest of his life.
By my calculations I reckon on the loans alone it must total around £15k and then ive to calculate his Lloyds credit card and we`ve all his other credit cards with other companies and im dreading having to start doing all the letters.

Has anyone had any experiences with Lloyds and do you think im likely to get it all back easily enough or am I going to have a battle on my hands?
I have applied for a new bank account for him to get him away from Lloyds and within less than a week they have been on the phone offering him £200 Marks and Spencer vouchers to stay with them, what a joke!
He is a soft touch so ive told him no way should he stay with them and instead he should say the only way he will stay is if they freeze the interest for the next 5years on his £20k loan - fat chance of that happening!

Grateful for any advice or a glimmer of hope........

    Hi there

Yes your boyfriend still stands a good chance, and I know the FOS have many complaints about these, so if not successful after going through all the complaint procedures with lloyds you still have the financial ombudsman service.
In fact my case has been with the FOS about these and have just had some success with these.;)

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

The above link gives further info on how PPI was mis sold and there is also a template letter, but try to use your own words if you can and obviously with your boyfriends reasons.

They have 8 weeks to respond in full and so not worry if he receives the first reply that he must have been aware of taking out PPI because he signed and so on, that means nothing and is generally the response we all receive back from them.

Like me for one, I thought PPI was all part of the agreement and if I cancelled, I assumed the whole lot would have to be paid off if you know what I mean and feel others thought this with their's as well, especially if it was not explained on the sale of this !

Post by recorded delivery and another letter maybe required if not successful first time round, but if still not successful, they should let you know in the final response about the FOS complaint procedures.

Good luck and please post up for more help if required.;)

Does your boyfriend still have all the agreements for these loans?

If not you can request for them in writing enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment and they should supply within 12 days of request.

However they only normally keep details/info on accounts going back only 6 years, but I was lucky to receive documents as from 2001 when received these in 2008.

Another way to request paperwork (for more paperwork) is to request a Subject Access request (SAR) they should comply within 40 days and send everything they have on your boyfriend, again going back 6 years.

There is a letter template for this on the thread with details, but with this one you have to enclose a payment of £10 cheque or postal order payment, again post by recorded delivery.

    Please keep us posted.;)
    Cheers

    Hi Turboman,

    Loan 8.4% APR
    Amount 15,0000
    Interest 3304.80
    Mnthly payment 305.08
    No of payments 60
    Total 18304.80

    PPI 8.4% APR
    Amount 3009.54
    Interest 663.06
    Mnthly payment 61.21
    No of payments 60
    Total 3672.60

    Total 18009.54
    Interest 3967.86
    Mnthly payment 366.29
    No of payments 60
    Grand total 20977.40

The loan was settled early after 11 payments (months)

PPI insurance rebate was 2014.58 (post up all the info in the FIRST settlement letter clarifying SETTLEMENT figures/REBATES & REFUNDS using exact wording so we can be sure of what was a loan rebate & what was a PPI Refund) AND DATES

Settlment letter details: (this is the 2nd settlement letter)

A Total monthly payments to 7th march 673.31
    B Rebate adjustment 637.21
    C Total refund A+B 1310.52
D Interest on total refund payable to 28th feb 2009 336.97
    E Total C+D 1647.49

My main gripe is that I have not been refunded the total premium. They have adjusted the rebate as if it was settled proportionately to the remaining term whereas I feel entitled to a full refund.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Gary.
