  • Hi,
can anyone tell me what I should do. i have written to natwest asking them to refund a lump sum PPi plus interest (using martins calculater, brilliant tool!!) like so many other people I never realised I had it until all the media hype by Martin.. Got reply back to second letter they are basically saying they dont agree and that they acted fairly but offered me a goodwill gesture of the total amount but not including the interest, Im sure i read on this site somewhere before that you can accept the cash now but still claim the interest once the court case is resolved at high court? but on their letter they want me to sign a declaration accepting this as final. what should i do?
    Thanks

    Hi there

I would check on the thread for more info on this matter, in the media last week there was news on this matter that too may were just offering goodwill gestures, where in fact this is not fair because you will be losing out on money that is rightly yours, in this situation I would contact the FOS here:
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

See what they have to say, it may mean that they say to just take your complaint over to them to investigate, if its a huge amount of difference involved, personally I would not accept it.

Keep us posted on this matter hun, fingers crossed to you.;)

Thanks Turboman, will get back to you tomorrow when I have all the info to hand. The first PPI rebate was a value calculated in a way that was disproportionate to the remaining term.

The ppi refund I have recently received was basically an adjustment to the original rebate as if the rebate was worked out proportionately to the remaining term. The lender was A&L and this was one of their failings pointed out by the FSA but I was generally mi-sold the ppi so feel entitled to a full refund.

Anyway, will post up the extra info tomorrow.

    Thanks again.

Cheers--won't be on line after morning till Weds--see you then

    Hi there Jes11

Hopefully someone will post soon with an address, just tried to check them out and am unable to find an address, but another way here you can contact the Financial ombudsman service who should be able to confirm the correct details of whom to write to, good luck.;)

If you've not wrote to them yet, the FOS sometimes do this on your behalf.;)

Blimey, that is a very long time.....2007:eek: and still waiting to be moved on to the adjudicator.
If your circumstances have changed for the worse, (I understand that this can be the case since this recession/credit crunch matter), but if this is the case for you let them know, then maybe they may consider moving this on for you.
It does seems to be taking a very long time.
And of course get in touch with them every other week as well.

I am aware that they have recently taken on new adjudicators, so hopefully you will receive some news soon that its finally been moved on, fingers crossed hun.

Do you have the contact details for these, otherwise check here:
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html

Good luck with this and please let us know, cheers.;)
