right ive just spent 30 mins on bloody hold to mbna !!! right so i havent been awarded the 8% interest because apparently i didnt clear the full amount between now and taking out the card at any point so im not entitled to the 8% interest

also phoned egg for an update and they are still investigating and cant give a time scale she said she received my complaint form on the 7th of june!!!!! thats weird coz i have a letter acknowledging my complaint on the 6th of june and i said the complaint off on the 18th of may along with my credit card complaint which they say they recieved on the 18th of may but it was in the same envelope so how does that work?????

You are entitled to the 8% interest on the money they took from you as a mis-sold PPI. MNBA should really understand what this is all about.
Just remind them of the Barclays statement today

"They will refund insurance payments plus 8% interest."

Hi, I have been following the advice given on this site to get my agreement details from Barclaycard. The problem is I paid this off some time ago and have no paperwork and only through looking at old credit profiles, did I manage to get the last 4 digits of my account number.

I sent the letter off, and got a reply a few days later stating that they couldnt locate my account and asked me to send the full account number to them. They havent retuned the £1 cheque..

Can anyone suggest what I should do next or a way of finding out the full number...

    Thanks
    Jo

    Hi Jo & welcome.

I would personally call into your local Barclays Bank and speak to the Branch Manager, this have been done previously to also being told they could not locate the info.
They should check the systems for you.

Keep at them and good luck.

    Hiya

    Drat!

I really don't understand why it should make any difference if you cleared it or not, unless someone can rectify on this one.

However, on both the FSA and FOS website today, the FSA are giving banks extra time, check the details here.

    Hi All

This is my first time posting on here although I have used the site for a long time. I need some help, and couldn't think of anywhere that I was more likely to get the right answer. I had an old credit card with HSBC and I was unsure whether I had paid PPI on it or not, so I sent Martin's first letter, asking for a copy of the terms and conditions. I recieved a reply stating that as the card has been either paid off or account closed that they do not have to legally supply the information. I cant post the exact wording as I left the letter at home by mistake, but just wondered if anybody else has anything similar, and what I can do next??

I will post the exact wording tonight, was sure Id brought the letter with me!

Hi and welcome to PPI reclaiming.

Yes this is known, and if the account is settled as well.
Try calling into the local branch and asking as well if your able to.

But despite that, if you know you were paying for ppi and mis sold, just as long as you have an account number you can still make a complaint/reclaim.

Not everyone have had much paperwork either, and still been successful.
But if you still require any data, you can still request for a Subject Access Request (SAR) where under the Data Protection Act (DPA) they must comply by 40 calendar days and send all they still hold on the account. You have to enclose £10 cheque or postal order payment for this request.
An SAR is optional of course but may help if your not sure if you were paying ppi or not, and give details if you did take this out or not.
There is a SAR template letter below for this use, if you want to do this, tweak to your requirements and post by recorded delivery.

To continue with a reclaim, just complete the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, remember to keep copies and allow 8 weeks for a decision.
    Good luck.

You could sar the bank and request all the info the bank hold on you this will cost £10.00, put all the info down in a letter that you remember like d.o.b,address,any bank details you hold etc and the bank should then give you the info you need or you could send a cca for a £1.00 but some banks want the max fee of £10.00 and will just return the bank fee, I find it strange that the bank seem to find some account numbers and not others,i went back with LTSB 16 years and i got the info out of them eventually or you could as Di recommends go into the branch and go from there, whatever suits you.
  • Im not certain that I was paying any PPI, so is the SAR the best option, even though I may have not paid any?

Could be worth checking with your local branch first.
Some have done the same as you, and been told the same, only to find the correct info directly from the branch.
