It also depends on if its a monthly (good) or single (bad) premium policy.

My husband had a loan which had PPI added at the beginning so that he then paid interest on both the money lent and the PPI. Is this what you mean by a 'bad' premium? He didn't need the PPI as he would be paid by work and then we had a policy for unemployment, critical illness, death etc. so we are putting in a complaint. In our niavity at the time we accepted PPI as being part and parcel of getting the loan. If it is a 'bad' premium does this add to our mis-selling argument.?
Will we need to provide evidence of the other policy that we had. We have changed companies since this loan finished so I will have to do some digging around to get policy details, will start looking now if they will be needed!
Another question, please!! Is it worth mentioning that my husband works for the company owned by a very close family member and from experience he would continue to pay my husband full pay longer than the period written into his contract, in the event of sickness.
    TIA for any guidance.:)

I've posted this on another thread but things move so quick on here it's on page 2 now without a reply so I hope it's OK to copy here for some guidance. Thanks!

    Hello there

And sorry if this have been missed previously, and yes your right this thread moves on very quickly lol.;)

Having the ppi added to the loan - is a one in all monthly payment, so classed basically as a single payment.
You do seem to have good reasons here to make a reclaim and with it also being possibly worthless to you with already having protection within employment as well.

You do not have to provide any paperwork to them, but if you optionally want to request for any paperwork you can do so by either contacting them in writing, ask them to provide you with a copy of the agreement by 12 days, and enclose £1 cheque or postal order payment.

Or another way for even more data is to request a SAR (Subject Access Request), they have 40 calendar days to comply, and you enclose £10 cheque or postal order for this request.
They should supply all data going back at least the last 6 years, sometimes they enclose data going back to even previous years.
There is a template (SAR) for this below if you want to use and tweak to your requirements if you want to.
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

Sometimes info from an SAR can be helpful.

However, to make a reclaim its just a matter of completing the reclaim questionnaire as shown on step 3 below, make sure you keep copies, and send to the head office or complaints dept of whoever set up and sold you the account.
Allow 8 weeks for a decision.

Hope this helps, and the best of luck.

Hi Di & thanks for your reply!

Just wanted to clarify please, the other policy I was referring to is the Income Protection Policy we have seperate to any debts and just wondered if when deciding on a complaint the companies ask for evidence of these policies or similarly, copies of employment contracts showing enhanced sick pay etc. Just wanted to be prepared!

    Thanks again for your advice.x

    Hiya

    I see.
Well if you do have anything - evidence maybe it would be worthwhile you enclosing copies as well just to cover yourself and to save time later on.
Personally I would if you can.;) x

    Hello there

Yes you can, if you know you were sold ppi and mis sold, and if you can just manage to get hold of the account numbers, you can therefore continue to make a reclaim.
You can check loan account numbers for example:
If your still with the bank where you paid your loan monthly payments every month on statements or if you bank online.
The loan account numbers should show up next to the monthly loan payments.
And if you have online banking this should allow you to go back to about 2002.

Or call into your bank and ask them to check the computer systems for you. Speak to the branch manager who should be able to track them down.

To make a reclaim, complete the step 3 reclaim questionnaire as below, allow 8 weeks for a decision and remember to keep copies as well.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3

You can complete just one questionnaire if you want to if mis sold for the same reasons, but remember to add the account numbers that apply, or if you prefer complete them separately.

    Hope this helps, good luck.
