I contact my Credit Card provider, but they said they were not recording calls at that time (2006). I asked for a copy of the notes and I was told that I could not have them.

How do I go about asking for a copy of the notes of the PPI call?

My PPI only covers critical illness and redundancy, but I am pretty sure that on the phone call it was stated that it covered unemployment. The policy also states unemployment until you read the T&C's which states this only covers redundancy. I was only 25 when I accepted this policy and it is useless to me.

    Can I still claim?

    Hello there

A subject Access Request (SAR) may help, there is a template letter below you can use and tweak to your requirements if you want to, you enclose £10 cheque or postal order and they have 40 calendar days to comply.
Hopefully proof of calls will be provided, if not by disk recording, then maybe written transcripts, good luck.

hi all :) right ive had a rather snotty letter from hsbc this morning after sending them my claims form and requesting a refund, it states that she has check her records and she cannot find any evidence that i had ppi insurance on my credit card and could i send her any statements showing this ppi insurance also said she cant take my complaint any further and my case is closed!! right so is this the standard (we are gonna try and put you off) tactic ?as im sure i phoned them about 2 years ago to tell them i didnt want ppi insurance on my credit card and to cancel it,whats my next step please do i send a postal order for a pound and ask for a copy of my original agreement or do i send a ten pound cheque asking for last 6 years of statements? thanks in advance i suppose 1 saying we dont have any proof out of 6 claims forms isnt bad is it lol

    Hi there
Maybe the SAR way would give details of the cancelling of the PPI if cancelled within the last 6 years.
If the account is still running, then they should still hold these details and send you a agreement for a £1, although it maybe enclosed within a SAR.

hope you get to the bottom of this hun, good luck.

I am new to this forum and have never posted anything on one before so hope I have done it right!!

I am looking into my sons car loan with Black Horse and the documents do not class the 'Insurance' as PPI, but as 'other Insurances.' Does anyone know what this means? There is a PPI category on the agreement form but it is showing as 0.00. I can't think what it can be for. I have already sent a claim for 2 loans to HSBC as he is and always has been Self Employed, so we are keeping our fingers crossed there. It's just the Black Horse Loan I need to know about. He can't ring up in office hours cos he is at work all day and obviously I am not him so can't do it!!

    Thanks and here's hoping

    Hi there

I would write and ask them to send you a copy of the policy of the insurance details, this they should send on request free, its normally a booklet, this way you will know what he is paying for. Remember to write the account number on the letter, and ask if they can send within 7 days, good luck.

Thanks for this - I have posted a more detailed post on the other board as you suggest.
The only other part to this, which I have explained over there, is that when I cancelled the PPI earlier this year, it turned out that I wasn't even covered for the last 5 years due to my circumstances changing, however these circumstances are not covered in the T&Cs and weren't explained when we took the PPI out, so we had no way of knowing that we weren't covered (if you get my drift).

Surely, the fact that it's a mortgage arranged by a IFA shouldn't change things should it?

    Hi there

I would post a new thread, as amersall suggests, its still within these threads, but it will get found by the ones who will be able to give the info on this one for you. Dunstonh is normally the one that helps in these cases or MagpieCottage.
Title new thread "Mortgage ppi help" or something similar.
    Good luck.

    Hi

Can you tell me if my hubby is eligible to reclaim please?

He has had 2 loans from Lloyds TSB in the past, both with PPI. He has a pre-existing medical condition which was disclosed and probably would have affected his cover if he ever needed to claim. Also his employer pays 6 months full pay for sickness and accident and I believe has a decent payout for redundancy so really the PPI would have been a waste of time! The salesperson listed the reason for selling it to him as because the loan was over 60 months and emplyer only pays sick pay for 6 months so the PPI covers the shortfall. It is very likely that any future medical problem/sickness may well be due to his pre-existing condition so we believe it was mis-sold as he wouldnt have been able to claim on this basis. Have we got a case?

    Hi there

Well I think so. To have a pre existing medical condition they will not pay out for this if a claim was to be made, and obviously if they discussed this and made him aware of this, then your hubby could have had the opportunity to question this and refuse to accept the PPI.
And again if he was protected by his employer for 6 months, that is yet another reason.
    Go for it.

You can do so by following the prodedures of reclaiming directly from Lloyds Website here.
    http://www.lloydstsb.com/payment_protection_insurance_complaints.asp

Complete the complaints reclaim questionnaire, you can do these 2 separately of on the same one if mis sold ppi for the same reasons on both, but if you prefer do separate ones anyway.
Remember to keep copies, and send to the address as shown on their website - complaints of PPI.
Allow up to 8 weeks for a decision, but they should confirm acknowledgement of your complaints within the first week, good luck.

Also just to add a few more details.
With mine, as well as posting by hardcopy post, I also emailed them through, and asked them to confirm delivery of my complaints, you can do this if you want to, or one or the other, but if you email just make sure you ask them to confirm receipt of your complaint, good luck.

ok dug out some old paper work from hsbc and it appears that i wasnt paying ppi insurance on it i presume that it would be listed on the monthly statements like it is on my abbey credit card which says i was paying 20 pounds a month on ppi
It looks like you did not have ppi then, as it would show on your statements.
If you can only get 6 months statements, it may be worth a SAR, oyu may have paid ppi previous, is it possible you cancelled the ppi?.

The Black Horse website says it offers optional GAP with particular benefits but is currently reviewing the product so no further information is available. I wonder if it knows something?? Mmm??

Wikipedia says that GAP covers the difference between the depreciated actual cash value of a lost vehicle and the outstanding loan balance on the vehicle. The coverage may also include payment of the physical damage deductible. I take this to mean that it would only make up a shortfall if the vehicle is written off, and would only pay the difference between the amount outstanding and the amount offered by the insurance company if less, if you catch my drift.
I don't know if my son has got any policy documents. Obviously i'll have to ask him to check what it says.

Meanwhile, i'll keep my eye on the BH website

Thanks for your help so far ;)
