  • I've been trying to get Tesco's to respond to my PPI claim from a current loan.
I have used the MSE FOS letter and received the response that they needed further information. I sent a letter by return back stating that the information I had supplied was enough and asked them to proceed with the claim.
Tesco's have given a number out but it is completely useless as it has been either unobtainable or it rings a couple of times and disconnects.

What should I do now as I have had three weeks without correspondance from when I sent the last letter in?

I have stated in the letter that their Telephone number is useless as it is never answered.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi David

Have the 8 weeks passed since they've received your complaint?

They normally have 8 weeks, but otherwise tell them if you don't hear within a certain time, you will complain to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).

    Good luck.

I have been searching the forums to see if anyone has had any success with an Argos Store Card? I wrote to them in January using a template letter and received a letter saying they were investigating and would update me by the 16th Feb. That came and went so I rang them and they insisted a letter had been sent saying resolution by 23rd March. No letter has ever arrived. I rang them today and they said a letter had been sent at the beginning of this week and that the Box for PPI was ticked on the application and no reason for mis-sell. I don't agree so will wait to see if their letter is a final decision one. Has it really taken them over 8 weeks to tell me what I already knew (about the box being ticked). Are they all playing for time waiting for the JR results or do they just want to make it as hard and lengthy a process as possible.
I would be keen to hear from anyone that has dealt with Argos.

The guru's of PPI reclaiming should be a long later today to give you a helping hand I am sure. Fingers crossed they may know. I haven't read anything personally though.

Good luck and dont give up.;)

Did you do this in the store or online, have you a copy of the agreement?.

If you did this online some of these agreements have the box pre ticked and you have to untick if you do not want ppi.
When you get the letter back saying "you ticked the box", if you did it in store then you would not have had the ppi explained to you as a sales assistant (in my opinion) would not have the knowledge about this product and would not have asked you relevent questions, eg is this suitable for you, are you working or are there any outstanding medical problems you have that this ppi would not cover.

Do you usually take ppi on other financial products,do you get sick pay, were you unemployed at the time?.
These are all questions that need to be looked at.

    Hi,
Sorry if this is a daft question but I've read the guides and can't see an answer.

I took PPI on a mortgage with Northern Rock in 2004. The policy is with Legal and General (the document states "your issurance is arranged through Northern Rock plc and is underwritten by Legal and General Insurance Limited). My mortgage was arranged by an adviser at West Bromwich Building Society.

Who should my claim by against? Northern Rock, Legal and General or mortgage advisors West Bromwich Building Society?

    Thanks in advance

I have started to write my letters and forms to hopefully claim back my PPI. If anybody can help me out I would appriciate it.
I have a loan with Northern Rock for which I have filled in the form from these forums, this is not the problem. I have also found documents relating to 2 different loans with the Abbey from 2003 and 2004 and also documents to a credit agreement for First National which I think is now part of Santander from 2002.

Firstly can I claim on thses as I have the documentation and secondly if i can claim do i just send a letter or fill in one of the consumer questionaire forms

The other one that my wife has is still ongoing with Santander which is a store card, She never asked for the protection to be included. Should she cancel the protection and then raise the claim.

    Thanks hopefully

I received 2 replys today. one from Northern Rock saying that they are looking into it and acknowledge that they have 8 weeks.
The second was from Santander regarding my wifes store card. They have included a copy of her signed agreement which to our surprise was back in 2001. It shows that my wife did sign for the protection. and they state that as my wife did not use the 30 day no quibble guarentee to cancel and that we should have had a policy. We have never had a policy document. they do say that they have no record of what went on in the store but we still could have cancelled. They go on to say that they cannot find any evidence of mis selling so they will not refund and that this is their final responce. If I am dissatisfied I can go to the FLA.
Can anybody advise if I should carry on on give up on this one.

    Hi there

No its not a daft question and its best to make sure.
Normally whoever sat with you, rang you or so to set up the mortgage account is the ones responsible and the ones you pursue.

Dunstonh is the one on this site to help with reclaiming mortgage ppi, so if you stay within the reclaiming threads but post up a separate thread subject it as "Mortgage ppi help" I'm sure Dunstonh will be along at some point today to help and advise.

    Good luck with this.;)

    Hi there

This is to be honest the usual standard fob off, we all sign these agreements but still may have reasons of being mis sold.

You could contact the FLA if you want to or maybe the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) if the FLA will not help.

    FLA here.

    FOS

Good luck, please let us know how you get on cheers.;)

Store card won't be regulated back in 2001, so won't be able to go to FOS. Has anyone ever had any luck with the FLA?
