I've got a problem with MBNA too. I have a credit card which was almost at the limit. I was made redundany in November, called to ask about claiming on the PPI, but had a job lined up to start in January so they told me they wouldn't pay out for such a short period! I was able to make my November Payment but not my December payment, which I had advised them of. They said I would incur the £12 late payment charge. I now find I am over the limit, incurred the late payment of £12, plus a £12 fee for being over the limit. I asked on the phone for them to remove the PPI as there was no point in paying it if they won't pay for short periods of unemployment, but find that charge is still being madem, which is, of course, increasing the amount over my limit. As I am only just back in employment, I am not in a position to overpay & reduce the outstanding amount, so can see no way out of the situation at the moment. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for me, please. I would be grateful for any help.

    Thank you.

    Hey

I have not really dealt with 'claims' cases as opposed to missale cases but im happy to give it a shot. If you asked them to cancel the policy and they havent done so then you should keep complaining because once ou have told them you want to cancel and they have cnfirmed it will be cancelled they shouldnt charge you for anymore PPI payents. In regards to the PPI unemployment claim, ask them to provide in writing why they are denying your claim and where in the terms and conditions of your policy they are relying on to deny your claim.

Hope this is of some help. thanks

  • Hi I have just joined up to this forum and wanted to ask if accepting a refund of ppi should result in loan provider extending my loan term?

Sorry I am not sure how to start a new post so I am hitting reply to this latest ppi related post.

I took a £12k loan with A&L in November 2006 over 5 yrs/60 months. Back in June 2009 I accepted a refund offer on ppi following an investigation. From July 2009 my new monthly payments were made excluding ppi. I recently phoned my loan company (now Santander) to ask about a settlement amount on this account which according to my orginal agreement as taken out in November 2006 finishes this November 2011. However, I am told my loan doesn't end until April 2012 because my original loan account was closed when I 'cancelled my ppi' and a new loan opened with new term until April 2012! They have opened a new account number which looking back on my paperwork from September 2009 their letter said they could not 'process my redress payment until your new loan account has been set up'. Can this bank do this? They tell me they arent able to look at how many payments I had made before September 2009 on their system as these payments were part of a totally separate loan. They have also said that I 'won't be disadvantaged' by extending the loan term but my own calculations show that by extending my term by 5 months i clearly will be making more payments than i originally agreed to in Nov 2006.

Can anyone please advise or point me in the right direction on this?

    thanks

They couldnt process your refund because your PPI was probably an integral part of your loan agreement. So they had to reconfigue your loan in order to chage your payents and refund you for your PPI so this is quite normal. However, I dont know what to suggest in regards to them extending your loan term when doing this as this is obvously detrimental to you. Maybe there is someone else on here with knowledge in relation to whether they can extend the term.

Hi there, did you win mis sell for this ppi, and if you did have you got the breakdown of what they actually gave you back?. If you win mis sell then they must put you back to the position you were in had you not taken ppi, this does not extend your loan term or apr.
