  • Can I claim for PPI as far back as 2001 as I have some of the statements?
I have always had a balance. From time to time the a/c no has changed but I have record of them. I was never employed although I did so very casual holiday relief for 5 weeks back in 2002. I was getting maintenance from my Ex. I also was and am getting Severe Disability Allowance. I was sold the PPI and wasnt asked whether I was in employment....just that I would get my dues paid if I couldnt afford to. This was my worst fear so I agreed at the time. I have just found out that this was untrue and was told to subscribe to Martins Money and here I am. Hoping that someone can tell me where to start !!!

    Hi and welcome

Yes I think you have a good case here, and good reasons, so go for it, just complete the reclaiming questionnaire below on stage one, this replaced the template letter, then send to whoever responsible for selling you the product (head office), keep copies of everything in case you need to go back to this case at some point.

They normally have 8 weeks, but may ask for more time, personally I think you have a good case, please keep us posted and good luck.

Also just to say, as long as you've the account numbers that is fine, remember to include all account numbers that apply.

    Hi

I wonder if anyone could offer any advice, I made a complaint to Capital One regarding the PPI that I was being charged on my account. I have received a letter from them today saying my complaint has been rejected due to the fact when I completed to paper application some years ago I ticked the box indicating saying PPI needed although at the time I feel would not have understood what it referred to.

My question is would this compliant be worthwhile pursuing or just let it go?

    I would welcome anyones advice.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello All,

Havn't posted for a while but have been reading and keeping up to date with what's going on.... Here's my story... I put 2 claims in against Lloyds TSB back in October 2010. I waited the usuall 8 wk, and had the standard letter for both cases saying they were looking into it! At this stage I filed both complaints with the FOS Dec 2010. Then in Jan of this year I recieved a letter for one of my cases from Lloyds saying that they were prepaired to pay me back all of my monthly PPI instalments plus 8% as an ex gratia payment. I signed the agreement and sent it back. Now after hearing nothing for a couple of weeks I began to get worried so started chasing them up, after a bit of chasing and a little more waiting i checked my bank today to see that they had stood by their word and deposited the full amount of £950.00 in to my account.

My other complaint is still with the FOS as Lloyds decided they wanted to go down the FOS route, so I am at present awaiting to be assigned to Adudicater at the FOS.

Now at the same time I filed my cases with Lloyds I also did the same for my parents who had a loan with the AA. The same happened as mine above but, they recieved a refund a couple of weeks ago for £4500.00.

I just want to say a massive thankyou to the legendary "DI" who has been a fountain of knowledge and help. I followed every step of the complaining process from this web site and say to all that are still in the claiming process (as I still am with 1 complaint) stick with it, I know it's frustrating but it'll come good in the end.

    Hi Millie

I would definately keep on at your reclaim.
Despite them sending you the paperwork you signed, you may still have your reasons, however we all have to sign when we take out a loan but that does not mean you wasn't mis sold.

I would write back and ask them to reconsider, tell them you do not agree with their decision, and give them more details if you can to support your case.

Also, its known to be rejected on lots of complaints first time, so do not back down, stand your ground, and please let us know how you get on, cheers.;) Good luck.

  • Hi
Just a quick question, I sent claims to natwest & MBNA. I had a standard letter back saying may take 8 weeks...MBNA responded last week saying they were waiting for the findings of the recent review. Nothing from Natwest but they are still within the 8 weeks and I am presuming they are awaiting the findings...question is do I send the MBNA onto to the obudsman or wait for the findings?
    Thanks

    Hi all,

I've got 2 PPI claims with Halifax and 2 with Black Horse that are being looked into at the minute. I sent the questionnaires off 8 weeks ago and received replies about a week after from all of them saying they are looking into it. Well what shall I do now that I haven't heard anything and the 8 weeks is up? Shall I contact them or wait a little longer?

    Thanks

    Hi there

Its not guaranteed they get back exactly on the 8 weeks, even though that is the normal timescale, personally I would give them a bit longer like another week and then chase them up if you've heard nothing, one of the problems are is that they are over-run with these complaints, and the FOS are the same, but there is no harm in giving them a quick ring to ask for an update.
    Good luck.;)
