    Hi there
    And welcome

Not heard of these myself, maybe others have, but if you do have a reclaim, please feel free to ask for help on this site, everything on this site is free, and its only a matter of completing a reclaim questionnaire, and you pursue the ones who sold you the account.
    More details here.

    Hi,

I have an ongoing case to reclaim miss-sold PPI on the further advance loan we had in 2004. We have had two loans with them previously to raise the funds for home improvement but we never had Mortgage payment cover on them. The one we had in 2004 was in addition and since I stopped working in A&L in 1999 as customer advisor (just general not mortgage) I wasn't aware of any mortgage related products and I took their advice as correct thinking they wouldn't push anything unnecessary on me knowing I have worked for them previously.

It is a funny case thought because my husband works very long hours and I remember I had to deal with it myself and initial correspondence between A&L and us is only addressed to me. However the PPI we found to our astonishment is only in his name even though we both signed the loan application and we both worked full time at the time.

I remember clearly that the advisor told me it will be approved much quicker if we take the insurance and I remember her saying that it isn't much to pay on top of the monthly premiums. They argue we didn't cancel it even though it was going for years and I have to say I tried (in March) but I was told only my husband can deal with it. Since he is often away and life is not as easy as some bankers may think he didn't get round to write a letter until last autumn.

They also say that we had paperwork to sign and some welcome pack (we don't seem to have) and that we have no case so they advice us to write to Ombudsman if we are not happy with their answers.

We already gone trough contacting the insurance Cardif Pinnacle (at present) and sending a form to A&L to find that they are not going to refund us money since they can see no miss-selling and they draw attention to my husband signing the application.:(

Guys please help because we don't know what to do.

It is usually only the first named borrower that the ppi covers.

Do not cancel this insurance, it will not have any impact on the balance of the loan or the monthly payment. They will redo the loan without ppi at a higher term and apr.

They also say that we had paperwork to sign and some welcome pack (we don't seem to have) and that we have no case so they advice us to write to Ombudsman if we are not happy with their answers.
This is not a reason for you accepting the ppi and signing for it.If the ppi was not fully explained to you at the outset then no amount of paperwork or signatures will prove that this was sold to you correctly.

We already gone trough contacting the insurance Cardif Pinnacle (at present) and sending a form to A&L to find that they are not going to refund us money since they can see no miss-selling and they draw attention to my husband signing the application.:(

What you need to do now, is send a letter to a&l and say you do not believe this ppi was explained fully to you for you to make a informed decision, put what the advisor said to you at the outset,if you had sick pay from work, life insurance etc (especially your hubby as the ppi covers him) then you would not have to have extra cover.tell them about the previous loans that you did not take ppi on, and why you would need to take it for this loan, unless..... someone made it sound like you had to.

We already cancelled the insurance. My hubby was well protected from his work place and additional insurance he had privately so there was no need for us to take it but we only have learned about it as we came across Martin's website!

Since A&L say "if we not happy we should go to FOA", do you think this is what our next step should be or should we argue a bit more with A&L?

Also I forgot to add we have moved our loans from A&L to Yorkshire BS and even when we moved we didn't realise we have this insurance in place.

    Thank you for you support!
