    Hi

I looked at my online statement for MBNA credit card for the first time in ages today. I closed the account in June last year to stop them rate-jacking me. I'm sure I asked them at the time to stop the PPI. I was pressurised by the person on the phone into taking out the cover with them when I took out the card (I never used to be able to say no to people). Anyway, they have still been taking the PPI all this time, so I phoned them today and cancelled it.
    So:
    1) do you think I have a claim
    2) am I right in thinking I can try to reclaim even though I have now cancelled
    3) does anyone know the address to write for MBNA as I only have a PO Box in Chester

    Thanks

    Hi there

The ppi should have been optional and you should not have been forced into taking it out, so give it a go, it may help as well to ask them to send you a copy of the phone recordings and/or transcripts, it may help your case.

And yes you can still make a reclaim on what you have paid into the account, even if cancelled.

The only address i know of are these below, but hopefully someone who have dealt with these will post up to confirm, good luck.

Hello all, Need some advice pls. I have just recieved a call from a company called Life Style asking if I was miss sold a PPI for a car I bought on finance in 2006.

I have no idea and I cant remember all the details. This company want to claim back the PPI on my behalf.

Do I go ahead? I am assuming this is a "no win, no fee" kind of thing. Do I have anything to lose by letting this company reclaim a possible miss sold PPI?

    Thanks.

P.S I have just looked round MSE and decided not to pursue it. To many horror stories about.

Hi there, ask the company you got the loan from for a copy of your agreement (they may ask you for £1 for this), then you can see if you have ppi on there. If you do and you have reasons for mis sell of this ppi (you can look at the checklist for mis sold ppi on this site)
And then all you do is write a letter to the bank saying you were mis sold this ppi. How easy is that? and it wont cost you over 25% plus vat to do this. You will get all the help you need on this site for free.

hi,i take it theres no news on the court hearing yet ??i read somewhere that even if the banks lose they will appeal against it & this will prolong further on getting your money back,my egg ppi was upheld but they wont pay anything untill the court case has been dealt with & my hsbc ppi is the same,i started these claims over 4 months ago & it looks like i will have to wait for a very long time before i get anything, its very frustrating because hsbc are still removing the same amount every month with the ppi

correction-hsbc have not said yes or no yet all i get is still investigating for 4 months what a JOKE
  • Hi . I would appreciate any advice, i've just started my PPi claim and in response to my first letter they've acknowledged complaint etc etc and say a member of their customer relations team will contact me shortly. Am I right to be reluctant to discuss it via phone if thats what mean, I'm worried they're going to try and trip me up and will have call recorded, or am I being neurotic lol?! Would it be acceptable to say I don't wish to discuss on phone and would appreciate correspondance in writing? You all seem money saving pro's so look forward to hearing from you!
    Thanks x
Ps apologies if I've posted this in wrong bit,bit of a techno phobe!

Hi there, I dont mind talking to cr on phone they did not try to trip me up. If you just answer the questions they ask you from what you put on your claim form i think that would be ok, if you think at any point that they are trying to trick you or make you compromise yourself, then tell them you will correspond in writing. A call will be a lot quicker than a letter and you will learn more about your claim. It is up to you what you want to do.
  • Thank you, just didn't want to do it then loads of people go ooh you shouldn't have done that haha!

Some may say that when they come on :rotfl::rotfl:dont worry, just do what you feel comfortable with. When they phone you make a note of the day and time and the persons name who you are dealing with.
    Good luck x.
  • I'm about to launch claims against NatWest, MBNA and Barclay card but I'm fearful that the resultant potential payout from these companies may attract some form of retribution ie, calling in the loan or card debt. Are there any rulings or judgemnts preventing a malicious act of this nature from lenders?

    Thanks
