Hi there, you need to find out who the insurer was, you could then go down this route as the insurer may have been regulated at that time.

Thanks and sorry for being a bit dumb but how would I do that? Should I write to Next and ask them for the details?

    Thanks

hi,i did tell hsbc over the phone to cancel the ppi on my loan 4 months ago but they said it would all be refunded after my complaint from the first day i told them, was told on here before not to cancel the ppi untill case has been resolved,i just feel they are hanging on for a result in the court hearing & i have had 4 letters from them which are all the same s**t still investgating,i know there is some people on here been waiting a long time but i feel this is a neverending struggle to get back whats rightfully yours, hsbc are crooks through & through,im thinking of contacting fos as im getting sick of being fobbed off, what u think ???

If you have been waiting more then 8 weeks since you first complained then take it to the ombudsman. Once it has been allocated ot an adjudicator phone them and tell them that you were told that the policy was supposed ot be cancelled. Did the bank tell you in writing that they would cancel the policy?

Was ur policy single premium? if it was single premium in the same loan agreement then the ppi is an integral part of the legal agreement and the ppi cannot just be cancelled without the loan being reconfigured

    Hi Millie07

All you do is write to the main lender and ask them to provide you with a copy of the loan Payment Protection Insurance policy details, ask they post them to you, and the details of the insurer/underwriter are enclosed on them.

You take the same procedures by writing to them with your complaint/reclaim, they will probably not accept any responsibility, but the FOS are suggesting this avenue if you cannot go no other way with this, even though it will or may take some time to deal with.
But the FOS will still be able to investigate against these as they would have been regulated/governed.

In-fact I received an update the other day in regards of mine and even though its been with the FOS for a good while now, they are still continuing with the investigation of the complaint.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

Take it to the ombudsman. After 8 weeks you have the legal right to take it there. What bank isit again? the ombudsman will request a bank file and if theyre being unresponsive they might tak your verbal testimony as the bak hasnt provided any info. But yeh definitely take it to the ombudsman know as it will speed up the whole process. Depending on which bank it is I can tell you how they have been responding.

If its a single premium policy then it is likely to part of the loan agreement and therefore they cant cancell the policy without reconfiguring the loan.

    Cheers

Just notied its HSBC. They have been providing as full case files as possible to the ombudsman so an adjudicator wil investigate your ocmlaint and process it. Once he send out a view they wont accept it and it will go in the ombudsman queue. I think thats the best way to go forward so submit everything to the ombudsman.

    Cheers

While I'm here a min, many have been told to go the underwriter/insurer direction by the FOS, do you know what the success rate is in going this avenue? thank you.;)

ok if it was 6 or 7 years ago then there wont be a demands and needs document. Can you remember if they recommended the policy for you?

What was the purpose of the loan?

    Thanks
