Hi there, the ppi will cover the person who took the loan and not you as guarantor, so i dont think you will be able to do anything about the ppi. Are you paying this loan with the banks knowledge ? give the bank a ring and see how you stand with this.

    Hiya.:)

To be honest its a tricky one really, i actually have a further 2 with lloyds now and waiting to hear, but i feel it will be the same outcome as yours, so i am going to have to think hard on that one.......decision time........
They did resolve 4 loan PPI's but that was before all this JR came about.

You do what you feel is best, I may wait until December and see what happens from there, chase them up and if i hear nothing, i will move on to the FOS.;)

    Hi Ken

Hope you hear sooner with a good result out of this.
Unfortunately it is something they seem to do is ask for more time, its up to you of course but once the 8 weeks have passed your entitled to take your complaint as you know to the FOS.

Please be aware though that the FOS can also take some time before they can investigate.

You could see what the next fortnight brings, if you hear nothing, give them a quick ring and ask for an update, because your considering the FOS, it may move them on a little quicker.

Fingers crossed and please keep us posted, cheers.;)

  • thta how i feel right now!!!

after almost 8 weeks of my original complaint regarding PPI HSBC have kindly gotten back to me to say that they cannot provide a final response at the moment as the BBA is taking the FOS to court regarding there complaint handling at the time of sales....or something like that

am i flogging a dead horse here??cos it really feel like they have dragged their feet for too long and secondly this decision according to the BBA was decided back in early october so why have they only just bothered to let me know??

does anyone know what i should do?at the end of the letter they have said once it has been reviewed they will give me a final answer or if i remain dissatisfied i should go to the FOS...is there any point?? this is meant to be reviewed early 2011...i just want MY MONEY why are they being soooo mean????????????:(

This is annoying, but you must send it to fos and let them deal with the bank, enclose a photocopy of the letter telling you this is on hold.Hang in there and dont let this drop.
  • Hello!
I need you help please!! I'm new this site, so sorry if I've made any mistakes in writing this post.

In October 2008 I registered my complaint with Lloyds TSB, whom I had a credit card with, asking for all my PPI premiums to be paid back, as it was mis-sold to me.
Lloyds TSB rejected my complaint, and I referred my complaint onto the Financial Ombudsman.
On the 1st October this year (2010) Lloyds TSB agreed to make a settlement - some 2 years later, and the settlement figure is £2,895, which I'm chuffed to bits with! :)

However, I paid my credit card off last year, and I still have an old Lloyds TSB current account, which I no longer use, but pay a small amount into each month to reduce the overdraft that is still on there.

When I spoke to Lloyds TSB, they stated that they had written to me on 22/11/10 confirming the settlement figure, and that they would refund the above amount to my Lloyds TSB current account within 21 days of their dated letter.

I explained to them that I no longer bank with Lloyds and am just paying off the overdraft on that account (which the current balance is £1,270). I am asked them if they could send a cheque, or transfer the funds to my Halifax current account, and they out-right said no, this wasnt possible.

Are they correct when they say this? I thought I would be able to at least direct where I wished my settlement refund to go?
Please, please help? I dont want Lloyds to eat up all of my PPI settlement!!!! :(

Hi there, yes they can pay this into your current account with the overdraft owing, thereby reducing the overdraft. You could try and appeal to their "better" nature if you are in financial difficulty and see if they will accept a portion of the win to the overdraft.
To be honest i dont think you will win this one, sorry, someone who this has happened to may have a way round this and hopefully post with a solution x
If you are in financial strife, then maybe if you ring fos they may help?.
