Hi All,
Still not sure what I am doing !!!! At the moment I have a ppi claim with the FOS for payment protection on an account that I had with Studio Cards a couple of years ago I sent the template letters to them in April 2009 got reply saying thanks but no thanks, so I sent them a second letter and got a reply saying they do not uphold my claim but the will refund me as a good will gesture the last amount I paid on my last statement which was the handsome sum of 1p !!!!! To which I went to the FOS sent all the paperwork and since then I have just had a letter every 2 months telling me they are still investigating aahhhhh !!! In the mean time I have sent the questionnaire and 1st template letter to RBS for ppi I had on a loan for over 7 years but I just kept topping it up over the phone so the ppi was always added without me knowing. Anyway they have gone over the 8 week timescale, they have sent me a letter saying that they know this but they have a back log and will get to me as soon as they can I have rang up a couple of times but got the same answer what should I do????? they are 3 weeks over the dead line now should I send them a second letter ?? I am not sure what to do I just want to know what their answer will be so I know if I should go the the FO with the claim or not ???? Also has anyone else had any success with Studio it would be great to know
CheersAny help I can get !!! lol :rotfl:
Hi there
And the best of luck with your reclaiming.
I understand they like a lot of companies have a backlog of complaints to deal with, but you are still entitled to make a complaint to the FOS just as long as the 8 weeks have passed.
However, it may still be worth waiting a little longer, and there is no harm in sending them a second letter and ask them for a certain timescale - date of when you should hear of a decision.
Good luck with this and please keep us informed.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi All - well I am 1/2 way down the road to this reclaiming PPI and wonder if any of you clever people can help with a couple of things.
I have written to Halifax, Egg, Barclays, Argos and I used to have 2 cards for Principles/Burtons and I used to pay GE Capital.
Does anyone know where to write to G E Capital regarding PPI as I cannot find it anywhere.
Also, I had 2 mortgages - one with Halifax and the other with West Bromwich BS - I took insurance out on those too! Can I reclaim that?
Really appreciate all the help!
xx
Hi there
First of all good luck on all of your reclaiming.
In regards of the mortage ppi, yes you can make a reclaim on this just like other loan ppi etc, but on this one I would post a separate thread (stay on this forum though) and subject it as:
"Mortgage ppi help"
And Dunstonh will possibly post up with some help on this one for you.
The address for GE that we have on these threads is this one here:
GE Money PPI Claims
Customer Relations Manager
GE Money Consumer Lending Ltd
53-61 College Road

Hopefully someone will be able to clarify on this, who have had dealing with them, remember though to post by recorded delivery, for your proof of posting.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Well been a while, but here i am again.
My two natwest claims have been in ready to work for weeks, now today i have been told a letter has gone to me on friday to say they need more time and I can goto the ombudsman if I wish. Apparently they are overloaded with claims.
What do you suggest I do.. carry on sitting waiting or up the ante?
Frustrating really as my egg claim was over and done with in no time at all..0 -

Hi hope your well.
Yes I understand this have been the case with most companies, personally I would give them a little more time, as you are aware it may take some time to get this investigated by the FOS, but yet I know if they don't end up upholding, its where you go afterwards anyway.
Hopefully though it will be the outcome your waiting for.
I would give them another 14 days, and chase them up with a call if you don't hear nothing by then.
Fingers crossed for you.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there, you will have to wait untill someone comes on who is good with figures and working these ppi refunds out. They will need:
* start and end date of loan = 13th Aug 2005 - Aug 2012 (84 months)
* the apr, = 6.70%
* the ppi monthly amount = £41.62
* the original loan amount without ppi, = £15,000
they can then tell you what your balance should be now without the ppi and where the ppi refund is, and if the amounts are correct.
Thanks Amersall,
Hope someone with a head for figures can give me some idea :huh:0 -
Hi All,
I have 2 claims so far, with HSBC and Virgin. I wrote to both in July and have a response from Virgin already. HSBC on the other hand wrote to me 4 weeks after my letter and again recently saying they still aren't in a position to give me a response and whilst they hope I will let them continue, I can take the matter to the FOS. If I stick with it, I may have a decision from them on 22nd October (note the clever use of "may" there).
So, my question is, should I stick with HSBC and wait (and if I do that, can I still take it to the FOS if I don't like the outcome), or do I take it to the FOS now? Will taking it to the FOS harm my chances if I haven't given HSBC enough time, or is 8 weeks long enough?
I would really appreciate some advice.
Thanks!0 -

Hi there
First of all good luck on your reclaims.
As long as the 8 weeks have passed, you are entitled to take your complaint to the fOS.
However, it seems that many have backlogs and are requesting for more time.
But when you do receive the final response, and not happy the answer is yes, you can still make a complaint to the FOS.
Hope its a good one, please keep us posted and fingers crossed.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Here goes...
As of last statement (August 2010)
Remaining balance ~ £5935.54
Monthly payment ~ £264.38 (£41.62 ~ PPI)
Restructured loan:
Balance ~ £4804.85
Monthly payment ~ £222.76 (Just removed PPI)
They said they'd repay £2497.20 (Sixty payments @ £41.62 to Aug 2010) and take it off loan. Interest at 8% per year will be added.
So: £5935.54 - £4804.85 = £866.31 ~ I assume this is future PPi payments, however...
24 months left on loan x £41.62 = £998.88 not £866.31
So it appears to me that they've taken off wrong amount of remaining PPi and haven't actually refunded what I've already paid!! Am I completely off base?
Calculators at the ready guys
hi,
these numbers look to be correct,
you will get back what you have paid so far, + 8%, the 8% equates to approx £524 on top of the £2497
the difference between the 998.88 and 866.31 is because you will no longer be charged interest on the ppi portion so excluding interest the amount would be 866.31 (interest is added on a monthly basis)
well done on getting you money back.:beer:I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0
