I agree with amersall, I was originally going to go through a solicitors called Goldsmith Williams until I read up on the forums about them, theyre not regulated either (after checking) and they wanted 30% of the claim. Although its a different case than yours, the principal is the same and that is you can do it all yourself with a bit of patience, and guidance from everyone on here.....

:D Cheers for that :D:D these claim company phone calls are getting way too much in your face now  and they cant do anymore than you can and all for the price of a couple of stamps :)
  • Hi,

I first posted on here a few months ago about being mis sold ppi by Loans.co.uk.

Went through a bit of a process, as i was initially advised they were in liquidation, and then eventualy managed to find out where they were & followed your guidelines & sent a letter to caim my money back.

They replied telling me to go away, as they say when i applied for the loan (joint loan with my wife) that they called my wife who agreed to the PPI, which she wouldn't agree, she was probably just told the loan figures over the phone, agreed with them (as she didn't know the exact details) and no doubt they included the PPI payments as well.

I'm lost now, as to be honest i'm skint, and culd really do with the £2,000 back. I know Loans.co.uk got fine £550,000 by FSA for the exact offence they committed against, yet i can't seem to get any joy from them.

They sold me a single PPI policy for a loan in joint names, there as rendering the policy useless anyway. Sold me PPI when i specifically said at initial aplication stage that i didn't want it (never have bought PPI on any loan), never sent policy information, and the best bit is they actually forged my loan application (ticked the PPI box for me after i'd signed it, i know this as there was no option to opt out of PPI, just 4 different options to opt in, so i ticked none).

I really don't know what to do next, if i'm honest i got the go away reply from Loans co uk a few months ago and i've done nothing since as i kind of gave up, but it's anoying me that some fat cats have £2,000 of mine for no reason.

What shall i do, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

amerall and di3004 have some really good tips on how to proceed with this, what i will say straight away is you do need to be persistent and not give up with your case - you have done exactly what this compnay wanted and stopped after the first rejection - think of it like a game of tennis, they serve and you counter attack. YOU are perfectly entitled to claim your money back, just follow the threads/forums and get the right templates together to build your case and then hit these people in stages, let them refuse and then threaten them with the Ombudsmen and FSA. Do not be scared of these robbers.

Hi there, I would write back and say you are not happy with the reply and just say what you have put here, and if they dont reconsider their decision you will have no alternative but to take this to fos. I would also give fos a ring if this was loans.co.uk final reply, as you only have a set to take this to fos.Your argument for not doing anything sooner with this is you thought that you could not, but have realised they were fobbing you off.
  • Thanks STW. Taking into account i've already sent one letter but haven't got their reply anymore, would i be best to start from scratch. I've still got the intial letter i sent, which i got from this site, so will be easy enough to re-print & send again with todays date on it.

    Thanks

Hi jorcon3018, do a new one and put in that you had this claim rejected before and that the fos are saying companies must review previous claims that have been rejected. And if they do not comply you will take this to fos.

Pity you don't have the original reply but personally i would start again with a basic letter (check forums/threads for current templates) asking for your money. Wait for your refusal (it may take up to 8 weeks so be patient) Then when this refusal comes back, you take a copy of it and send it back with another letter but this letter details what you think you are owed (robbedofmymoney and amersall are good with figures) - also double up with the FSA questionnaire (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance). Lastly add to this that if you dot recieve a satisafctory response then your taking it to the ombudsman etc, etc.... I am in exactly in the same boat at the moment and am just starting my claim - ive been talking with the others on this site for only a few days but they have been superb - so keep that in mind - there is help here when you need it !!! Best of luck, keep us all posted

    Thanks Amersall and STW,

I've just spoken with Ministry of Justice Claims Management Regulation
    Monitoring and Compliance Unit.

The claims company are registered with them but the officer advised me to contact the financial ombudsman.

    Thanks again for your help!
