I sent my letter for reclaim to firstplus about six weeks ago, thus far I had a letter saying it would all be done for July 13th, since then iv'e had one saying to make sure they come to the right decision it will now be 10th August. Is this normal delaying tactics and can I expect the standard NO reply in August? Or will they actually be looking into my case?

    Hi there

Nothing would surprise me, and they have lots of backlogs as well, they will have to respond with a decision by this time then, but hopefully you will receive a good result sooner, fingers crossed for you.;)

  • Thank you Di and Bugsy for the extra info, will definitely use it . I feel spured on now after sitting back and waiting around for others to make a move. I am on the case , watch this space !!

  • Hi... well... I have some amazing news. I won't go into all the nitty gritty but.. took out a £7500 loan in 2005. Was told as I am self employed I had to have PPI @ £1853.43. Sent my complaint form in yesterday. Just had a call from the Halifax, less than 24 hours after posting it... saying they are upholding the complaint!

They will be refunding me the full £1853.43 + interest + 8% goodwill payment.

    UNFREAKINGBELIEAVABLE.

You have no idea how much I need this money with a new 10 week old baby girl and a client not paying me for last few months.

Really really good info from this site... I only found out about this through this site a little over a week ago while scanning the forums for advice in desperate times. I litteraly downloaded the form, completed it in word.. printed it, signed it, sent it recorded delivery to Halifax HQ, we didn't even have a cover letter.. and boom... they say I will be paid in next 14 days, redress team will be in touch.

Woooo..... hooooo.......... I can honestly say I don't think I've ever had such a WIN in my life!!!!

Love you all... peace and happiness ha ha... gotta go..phone my Dad who was sure I wouldn't get it!!!!
    DIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS... Thanks Di and Amersal for the advice on completing the form, where to post it etc..
Any more avenues I can explore?

And your very welcome, you deserve it so much.;)

Once you start winning, it gives you the incentive to check other finances taken out, such as credit card ppi/charges, catalogues, store cards and so on.:D;)

    Hi there

This does not seem right at all, write to them and ask them about this.
I take it your making a reclaim on the ppi as well?

If you have a claim in for mis sell, dont cancel the insurance, if you win mis sell the ppi is cancelled anyway.By cancelling now you have to take a new loan out without ppi, and yes this will cost you more.If you win ppi mis sell your loan gets put back to the position it would be in if you did not have ppi, the ppi total is taken off your loan and your monthly payment reduces by this amount.
  • Thank you both bugsy161 and amersall,

I always intended to go with template letter 2 if I had a rejection letter, but now you have both said that this reply is a "go away" letter and that my case is infact viable enough for a refund of MY money, I can do it with more confidence.
I've got the letter ready to post and I will fill in the FOS forms ready to be sent off if they even try to put me off again, let alone contemplate another rejection.

    I'll keep you posted

Since this post I sent the second letter to HSBC requesting a second look into the complaint, giving them 14 days to respond. It has now been 4 weeks and I haven't even recieved anything to say they've recieved my letter.
I'm getting p*^?ed at their complete lack of respect now.

I am going to the FOS, should I inform hsbc of my disgust with their lack of communication and that I'm going to the FOS?
