Evening all, just back from holiday to find a letter from mbna.Basically saying no but how they pride themseves on being fair and reviewing each case on an individual basis. Therefore as a courtesy and in an attempt to resolve our complaint to our satisfaction they will consider a refund of premiums if we can provide information that proves we i was self employed at the time the policy was activated, which could be in the form of a tax document. They have sent back ma original application where i have ticked in 1998 that i was self employed. My question is should i pursue this and will the tax office still have my accounts to prove i was self employed in 1998.I dont know what to expect with this one feel they are going to fob me of0

Hi annetta
Sorry if we missed your post, I may have replied but can't remember sorry, so many lol.
Well I would give it a go with the reclaiming, also due to the fact that you were already protected, the finance/bank did not obviously discuss this with you, if they had then you would have had the opportunity to have opted out due to this reason of already been protected etc.
So basically just as long as you still have the account number you can continue to pursue your reclaim to whoever sold you the policy by completing the FOS questionnaire, these are used now instead of template letters.
You will find the questionnaire on the link below further down the page as Stage one, they have 8 weeks in full to respond, remember to keep a copy as well in case you need to refer to it later on, and post by recorded delivery - this is your proof of posting.

Give it a go, hope this helps, good luck and ask for further help if required.;)
there are a lot of posts and some can be missed, i read new posts and see if anyone has answered, if not then if i can i will answer. At least this is sorted now.0 -

I am just wondering if any of you will help me understand what I need to do.
I have a £3000 loan with Halifax and have a Credit card with them also.
I also have an Outfit card and New Look card which I believe are from GE Money.
I then also have a Debenhams Credit Card.
They will have all been in the last 3 years.
I have read all of Martin's notes, but I am still confussed with it.
The guy I spoke to on the phone rekons I am looking at a £3000plus refund, but I don't know how he calculated that.
What I am looking for is, can I do this easily on my own, or should I just pay Money Claiming Experts to do it.
Please help.
(P.S. I agreed to them yesterday, so I have 14 days from then to cancel)0 -
Why on earth would you tick the self-employed box if you were not self-employed?
Exactly, anyway will phone tax office in the morning then see what happens from there.Think this one may go all the way. Thanks for your replies. Jan grocery challenge £300/£210 spent so far.I can do this:T0 -
Hi everyone I hope you are all ok- I am just after some advice please. Last August I complained to LTSB regarding ppi on credit card. Days after receiving complaint ( exactly one day) it was rejected. I took this to the FOS in Sept. LTSB were not very forthcoming with the required information so this delayed things at the FOS.
On the 4th June 2010 I was advised that my complaint had been upheld.
I spoke to LTSB on the 15th June 2010 and they advised that they accepted the complaint on the 11th June 2010 and that figures were sent on a spreadsheet to the FOS. The FOS on the other hand state that LTSB have not come back to them and that this is now in the queue for a Final decision from the OMBUDSMAN.
This complaint is only 7 days short of being a year old. I know that these complaints can take much longer than this and understand this. Does anyone have any advice on what to do as the FOS state that they can not ask the offers Team if something has come through. LTSB must have a refund figure in mind if they have sent numbers on a spreadsheet?
Thanks in advance everyone0 -
