Hi everyone,
I have 2 questions.
1. I would be grateful if any one could let me know if it is possible to reclaim PPI if your initial credit card application was completed and sent by post without actually speaking to anyone on the phone.
2. If you already had PPI with a mortgage does that mean that it wasn't necessary for you to take out another one for your credit card?
Any help would be very much appreciated.0 -

Hi and welcome.
For any reason you may have for being mis sold, you give it a go.
The credit card insurance was possibly just to cover the credit card itself like the mortgage ppi, unless someone else can clarify on this.
But check the info below, Martin's guidelines of reclaiming for more help and info, there is also a checklist and further down the page Stage of of reclaiming - by completing the FOS questionnaire, this is instead of writing letters, and these were recently issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS) for customers use to reclaim on PPI with any product.

So complete and send a to whom is responsible for selling you the ppi product and keep a copy as well, in case you need to refer to it again.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond with a decision, and post by recorded delivery - for your proof of posting.
Hope this helps.
Ask for further help is required and please keep us posted, cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

hi today recieved my reply from HSBC with regards to the 2 complaints , they did not uphold my complaint and the letter i had went they were not upholding my complaint on the grounds that within the information pack they gave me when taking out each of the loans was the explaination that I could cancel the PPI within 30 days of taking out the policy, they also enclosed the paperwork that i signed at the time .i claimed on the grounds that i was told at the time of taking out the two loans i was told without the ppi i wouldnt get the loans , but also thinking of it at the time of both loans i was under a consultant as i had eye surgery with an ongoing complaint , and if i was on the sick , i get full pay of my employer for 6 months then reduced rate for a following 6 months , so the ppi wasnt neccesary.
is it worth me sending a second letter to the bank or go straight to the FOS ,or dont i have a case
any replies would be grateful0 -

Send a second letter to the bank asking them to reconsider, especially after the recent ruling by the FSA for banks to re look at non upheld complaints and it may also save them additional costs if you dont have to go to the Ombudsman.
Them telling you about the cancellation notice is a normal bank 'cop out' because every contract sold has a cancellation period and this has nothing at all to do with the advice given at the point of sale.
The bank has to justify that the policy was sold in your best interests, you were fully aware of the workings of the policy and were given the choice of getting the cover quoted elsewhere.
The fact that you have cover at work and have an existing medical condition dont appear to have been addressed by the bank which only highlights their distinct lack of ability to correctly address a complaint.
The letter you have received is the normal corporate response in the hope that you will give up and go away.
You have an excellent case so dont give up and fight for the refund that is rightly yours.0 -
Hi there
I would also do as bugsy have suggested, basically as well you have received a standard fob off response, we all receive these information packs and have to sign and so, and have also still been successful with keeping on at them, but with your reasons ask them to reconsider and tell them the FSA are punishing businesses who are not investigating complaints properly - tell them you don't believe yours was taken into any consideration and asking they reconsider.
Tell them if you complain to the Financial ombudsman service and succeed, they will occur further charges to themselves and you will also request for further redress for distress and inconvenience.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum and have reading the posts with interest. 4 years ago I needed to cut back on my outgoings and noticed that I was paying insurance on my cards so I cancelled the payments as it saved me a considerable amount each month. I no longer have these cards or paperwork apart from the final statements.
I also had a First Plus loan with insurance which I was almost forced into taking out but I had to claim on it when my husband lost his job. 2 years ago I settled the loan early and ended up paying as much as I
had borrowed due to the insurance and interest costs.
Does anyone think I may be eligible to claim any of the insurance costs back?
I would be grateful for any help and advice you may have.
Many Thanks0 -

Hi and welcome.
You can make a reclaim with your reasons, and if you still have the account number in regards of the credit card that is fine.
As you made a successful claim for the insurance via FP, your still able to reclaim for your reasons, however the amount you receive if successful will be reduced due to the claim.
So what you do is complete a questionnaire for each one of them.
And send to who is responsible for setting them up, they have 8 weeks in full to respond.
The questionnaires were recently issued by the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) for customers use instead of writing letters, although your can put in your own cover letter as well if you want to, for example as you made a claim on the FP policy maybe you want to provide further information (if this does not give you the option on the questionnaire).
You will find these FOS questionnaires further down the page Stage one on the link below, remember to keep copies as well.

Hope this helps, also post by recorded delivery - for your proof of posting.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Can I ask a question(probably for di, and probably already answered)
How long did Lloyds take to respond to emails?
And what was the timescale for the refund after returning the acceptance slip?
We are now officially over the 8 weeks and i'm still waiting for a final response on 2 of the complaints and returned acceptance slips over 3 weeks back.
I put in the email that i'm happy to give them a bit longer if we can come to an agreement on the 2 open complaints and save messing with fos or court but would they let me know either way.0
