the following have been in touch with me regarding a PPI claim against a company that brokered a deal with first plus on my behalf a few years ago.
GMM have said that the company has gone bust and they are looking at my claim via Financial compensation Authority.
Has anyone any experince of such matters?
Many thanks
Hi there
Hope your well.
Quite a few of us on here have made successful reclaims through the FSCS, due to the businesses gone bust.
For more on the FSCS:

And there is also a thread below which you will find useful.

Hello again,
I was hoping that the next time I came on here I would be sharing my good news and saying that they have paid back my ppi. it has now been a month since I received the letter sayi9ng I was mis-sold it and that they would be upholding my complaint. In that time I have heard, nothing, nada, zip.
I've prepared a letter to chase them and I would appreciate your views on it....
Dear xxxxx,
I am writing to you again, to discuss my claim for mis-sold PPI.
I received a letter from you on the 15th May 2010 stating:
‘Having reviews your file and completed our investigations, loans.co.uk have come to the conclusion that you were mis-sold your ppi policy and as a result we will be upholding your complaint.
To ensure that we make the correct level of payment to settle your complaint, we require additional time to contact the lender and validate the amounts payable to you and/or your account. Please allow us time to do this and be assured that the refund will be made as soon as we are in receipt of the information from your lender.’
While I appreciate you reached this conclusion and are upholding my complaint, it is the result I was expecting. What I was not expecting was that, now, a further month since this letter arrived, I am still waiting to hear anything more from you.
You say in your letter that you strive to provide excellent service yet I find it extremely frustrating that in the year 2010, we are using letters as our only form of communication. I have no other way to contact you.
I would like to know the following:- How much PPI premiums my wife and I are to be refunded. (total value in pound sterling)
- How much subsequent interest on this premium we are to receive. (total value in pound sterling)
- How much statutory interest, the amount a court would award as we have been deprived of this money (total value in pound sterling)
- What is the total payment we are to receive (in pound sterling)
- How you intend to make the payment to us.
- When you intend to make the payment to us.
My home number is 0******** (after 5pm) or my mobile 0**********.
I would be grateful if you would also provide me with a telephone number and email address for yourselves for any future correspondence.
I appreciate a quick response to this letter. I would like this resolved as quickly as possible and will be sending a copy of this and all previous correspondence to the Financial Ombudsman if I have not received a reply within the next 7 to 10 days as this has now been 92 days, a quarter of a year since my initial letter.
Yours faithfully,
- I'm not sure about my last part about FSO and whether I should include it but am getting a bit miffed by it all now.
your thoughts appreciated as always.

Edited, try to the top one first if you need to email - if that comes back as undeliverable then try the 2nd one.
Hi Di,
I sent a letter off to John Lewis and nothing back yet. I should have had something back by 9th June as I gave them 7 calendar days, so do I just off and go to Ombudsman? I've also realised that John Lewis FS is linked into HFC Bank!! Isn't that the bank that everyone on the forum is having problems with? (well one of many anyway! LOL!)
Thanks.

Hi LL
Hope your well.
Just a suggestion but if you can chase them up with a phone call, tell them you've heard nothing up to now and you should have heard something by now.
They may have an update for you, but tell them you just need to know where you stand.
Did you post it by recorded delivery?:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
LL, yeah your right, lots on here have had complaints via HFC.:DThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0

Another suggestion LL, just in case they are stalling, contact the FOS as a general query, they may even offer to write to chase them up for you, I can't see them ignoring the FOS.;)

Hi All
New to the site but just to keep peoples spirits up, here's a list of my 'wins', both credit card charges and PPI.
1. MBNA 1 charges £1,350
2. MBNA 2 charges £2,700
3. BC charges £1,000
4. MBNA PPI1 £2,000
5. BC PPI £22,780
6. Barclays LOAN PPI £2,800
7. MBNA PPI 2 £6,000 (ongoing with FOS as understated, quell surprise!!)
I've been reclaiming since approximately June 2007, starting with credit card charges and moving onto PPI. The charges one's were obviously the easier of the two but even then i had to complain to FOS as the companies had underestimated (or not taken into account) card interest. MBNA 1 was the first credit card who paid out (on PPI) approximately 18 months after the first complaint letter after i went to FOS who upheld although i believe MBNA understated the redress by £1,000. Barclaycard originally defended so i went to FOS so Barclaycard time-barred it (totally incorrectly) but eventually as a goodwill gesture and offered £4,400, which consisted of 6 years premiums and 8% flat, not simple. Turned down, so they offered £9,000, which did not include card interest. BC said it was a mistake and offered £22,780 which i gratefully accepted. Barclays Loan to which i complained in March 2008 and time-barred and said it could not find any details, eventually agreed to pay out in March 2010 prior (just) to a FOS adjudicator taking on the case. MBNA 2, same story, complained July 2008, and only in April did they pay approx £6,000 which i have disagreed with for the following reason - MBNA didn't give redress as per FOS guidance, ie to put the customer back in the position they should have been as if PPI had not been taken. For some strange reason, they 'assume' the PPI would be repaid after a certain length of time even though this runs in direct contradiction of 'as if PPI had not been taken', a stance that understates the amount of redress. Moral of the story, don't just accept what 'they' offer as it is almost always in 'their' favour!!
Good luck and don't forget your inv..... bonds!!!!!:rotfl:0 -
