SO, does this mean I will get my money back, all or part? and if so does anyone know how long it can take before I need to chase it up if I've not heard.
Thanks in advance and thanks so much for the advice you have already given me to help me get this far.0 -

Hello,
I was after some advice on reclaiming PPI, the only thing is the loan was taken out in 2003 so is over 6 years ago and has been sold on to a debt collection agency is it still possible to claim back? Thank you for any help!0 -

you can still claim form your original lender if you have been miss sold ppi.
because the loan and ppi were that old its preferable to have the loan details available first, but not essential.
good luck and let us know how you get onI'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -

Hi there
Yes as Robbedofmymoney says, you can still make a reclaim, many of us have still been successful in reclaiming as from 2001 and even earlier years.
I would therefore complete the Questionnaire the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) have recently issued these, and to use these instead of a template letter, as these questionnaires covers all grounds of reclaiming PPI, and should save on time as well, you will find this FOS Questionnaire further down the page of the link below.
Remember to keep copies as well in case you need to refer to it later on, and they have 8 weeks in full to respond.
I would also post within the post office as well, this is your proof of posting.

And it makes no difference if the account is still active or settled.
Good luck with this, please keep us posted.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi All,
Am new on here and also new to the whole aspect of attempting to re-claim PPI's. I would just like some advice on the likelihood of me being able to reclaim PPI costs from a loan I took out a few years ago.
I took a graduate loan out from Barclays, who I bank with and have my graduate account with.
The loan was for £2,500 and during the discussions with the bank employee at the time I was told about PPI and just agreed to it. In total the paperwork shows that with interest I have paid back £2,800 for the initial loan, and also £320 for the PPI.
I wold just like to know if this is something I am likely to be able to fight to receive a refund on as I was not conned in to taking the PPI out at the time of the discussions so I knew I was taking out the PPI, despite admitting to the banker that I would probably not need it but would have it just in case.
Just want some advice on whether I should begin attempting to have this PPI re-claimed or just accept the fact the the £320 charge for the PPI has been paid and that's that.0 -

Hi and welcome
To what I know of you can make a reclaim on the PPI if it was mis sold for any particular reason, however, even if you were aware you were taking it out, have you checked the policy to see if you would be able to make a successful claim for unemployment/sickness etc.
If not then I would go for a reclaim.
But check the link out below for further information, there is a checklist of mis selling reasons, also check on them, and further down the page is a questionnaire to complete.
The Financial ombudsman service (FOS) have recently issued these questionnaires which are being used instead of template letters, so you complete and save copies in case you need to refer to it later on for any reason.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond, good luck and please keep us posted.

Hi how long did this take for you to recieve the letter?0 -
You know what I would do?
I would write that you have recently found some new evidence in regards of a complaint they rejected last year, but you believe you still have the right to complain, because the FSA are currrently taking dim views on rejected complaints, but giving them the opportunity to re-investigate to put things right.
Then go on to say, you will otherwise consider contacting the FSA.
Its just a thought but it may help.;)
You can send them a questionnaire which are quite new issued by the FOS, they suggest now to complete and send these to the banks, and keep a copy in case you need to refer to it later on.
If you want to do a cover letter to explain your situation as stated above, that is also fine, tell them you enclose a questionnaire and with your reasons would like them to investigate.
As usual they have 8 weeks in full to respond and post by recorded delivery, this is your proof of posting.
I do think its worth a try, go for it, good luck.
You will find the stage one procedures here which is that of a questionnaire:

Hope this helps.;)
I received a letter today saying that the bank are upholding my complaint and will pay me back all PPI I have paid to date (which amounts to about £2k) plus 8% simple interest.
