  • Hi folks, I've posted a similar request on the Barclays PPI thread but as this is general I thought it may have a greater audience. If anyone has a copy of a Barlcays Bank loan chart (loan application was included) I would be grateful if you would upload it for me. I need it going back to around 1993-95 time. It had columns with repayment figures with PPI and a column with repayment figure without PPI. I would be grateful if someone has one lurking around.

Just a suggestion- wonder if the actual loan thread would be able to help on this one?

I thought by expanding your query it may help.;)

Hello a newbie to this thread,

So appologies for repeating something if I've missed it. But my situation is this-

Banked with Hsbc all my life and three and a bit years ago decided to merge my student debt with credit card debt and thus got a personal loan. At the time I was advised to take out PPI with the threat that I'd not get the loan approved. And hey presto the loan was approved and since then payed my dues like clockwork. So three years down the line I want to stop this extra payment of £120 per month (PPI)- question is am I able to do this?
I had planned to go into my local branch and point out to them that I want the PPI to be stopped. Should I do this and would they give me the refund?

    Regards

    Peter

hi ellbee!! nice to have you back :j do not cancel the ppi, if you win ,mis sell you get all ppi you have paid to date back, the loan is reset to what it should have been without the ppi and at the same apr and term, if you cancel you get a small rebate of ppi and the new loan may have an higher apr, go for it and good luck x

    Hi amersall,

Good to hear from you! Thanks for the info. My daughter hasn't cancelled the PPI but I've typed up the FOS form and posted it for her (after getting her to sign it of course!) We'll wait with baited breath now and see what happens.

Its good to see you guys still here. It's a bit like coming back to a nice, warm, friendly place with lots of lovely, helpful people!! :A

    Hi Peter and welcome.

The PPI was obviously forced on you so yes you have a case to make a reclaim.

What you do is request to cancel this and ask them to reduce the monthly loan amount after they cancel the PPI.
(However, some branches will suggest to cancel is to take out a new loan without the PPI) to pay off the existing loan, but not always.

If you still have the policy details booklet check them out.

Then instead of a letter to make a reclaim, you complete a FOS Questionnaire, as shown on Stage one further down the page of the link below:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
These questionnaires are quite new issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS) and cover all ground of PPI reclaiming.
Keep copies in case you need to refer to it later on.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond with a decision, and post within the post office for proof of posting.

Hope this helps, good luck and ask for help anytime, and please keep us posted.:)

    Thanks Di,

Just another question while its fresh in my mind- as its related to my original question:

    1) The loan I'm going to the bank about with the PPI I want to stop and reclaim- this was a culmination of student debt (I took out student loans with the bank previously back in 2003) and these included graduate loan insurance against sickness and unemployment. (form of PPI?)

Would I be able to claim this back too?? The only reason I ask is that the fact the student loan was then obsorbed into this present loan in 2007 with PPI. Hope this makes some sense!

    Thanks

    Peter

    Hi Peter

To what I believe is - yes you can, and if you was not employed when they sold you this policy then you would not have been eligible to make a claim.
    I say go for it.;)

    Good luck
