Hi was wondering could anyone give me some advice. I am currently on a dmp which is going ok most of my debts are with collection agencies including my egg credit card who closed my account & passed me on to a company called dlc who have agreed a monthly payment with me. Now the reason for my post is i had an unwanted ppi with egg who were still charging me for it even when i defaulted on my account. so i applied to reclaim it & they have agreed to pay £1200 but only off my account balance. But my point is they no longer hold my debt so i phoned only to be told there is no way i can have a cheque & it has to be paid to my account its there policy even though they dont hold my account & i have till 1st june to decide. So do i take it futher to the finacial ombudsman or do i just accept there offer please help

This seems to be a grey area as I had over £4,000 refunded from EGG when I still had an outstanding balance. They sent me a cheque.
The collection companies will tell you that the debt is still assigned to the lender although I do believe that some of them are purchased debts.
I have had some of my refunds deducted from my debts and some have sent me a cheque instead of reducing my debt, so it seems that there is no consistency with any of them.

A quick update - I've received a letter from MBNA's Customer Advocate Office Manager thanking me for my communication and saying that they are currently investigating my complaint and will provide me with a full response by June 09 2010. This was dated 19th May. The only thing is, I'm not sure if they're referring to the complaint about increasing interest charges or the PPI reclaim, which I sent in the same envelope - at least I know they must have received both!

I have since (today) received another letter from MBNA Head of Insurance Business Development - which seems to be a generic letter regarding CCP - 'reminding' me of the 'features and benefits that Card Protection offers' and taking the opportunity to advise me that (quote) 'in the event that the Card Protection was purchased by an authorised user of your account, all documentation would have been issued to you as the principal cardholder. If you would like to amend the policy in any way to include your authorised user's details, please contact CPP directly'.

Do you think that this letter is a coincidence? Or could they be covering themselves in some way? I do remember having a discussion with someone about CPP, which I did take out at the time, but since stopped paying for when my financial circumstances changed.

hi there, it sounds to me they are covering their ar*es, they are reminding you that you knew what you were signing for, wait untill you get a reply to your mis sell then take it from there, good luck
  • you need to bear in mind that everyone who re-claims ppi has signed a document to say they understand it.

however, signing a document still does not mean it has not been miss-sold.

stick with it for your reasons and you will get there in the end.
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free

Was informed today by the FOS, that a letter was sent in todays post in regards of HFC, originally they were dealing with this through the underwriter as the broker dissolved, but they have found info that HFC are all related to them, so this letter is just to confirm the update of the changes.:)

    Hi Di,

I am just about managing to keep my head above water at the moment and I have already notified the FOS of the medication that I have had to start taking since last September.
I have the complete misfortune of working opposite a LLoyds TSB branch and I dont know if you have seen the film 'Falling down' starring Michael Douglas but that is how I am starting to feel.
