Hello everyone I wonder if anyone can help. I have looked through the various pages but can't see an answer to this query.

My mother was 65+ when she took a loan with LloydsTsb. They advised her at the time that she had to have PPI or she would not be allowed the loan. She did/does not work. The PPI covers her for life cover, critical illness and hospitalisation cover. But she could have got a better deal by getting her own policy.

In anyone's experience does this appear to be grounds for claiming back the PPI?

Lloydstsb have said she has no case.
not too sure on this, but she was covered for death, illness and hospitalisation, this would have paid out if she had taken ill , or god forbid died. as you get older you have more chance of becoming ill. they did not offer her unemployment in this ins has she obviously could not claim on that, had she taken ill then she could have claimed for what she was covered for. dont give up hope though, try what di says and you never know , they might just change their minds, also they could have told her to go elsewhere for her ins, you may just win for that good luck and keep us posted x

Hi All, was hoping for some more help. I had a loan which had PPI on it which was paid off over 10 years ago with Barclays. I stupidly didn't keep any paperwork from the loan or account as I closed it when my loan was paid off. I have tried asking for details from Barclays but they advised they don't keep records over 6 yrs, , also did the account trace which I found on this site for accounts that could still have money in them, I have also asked Experian as advised by a very helpful person on here but again they can only trace back 6 yrs. Has anyone got any other suggestions on how I could trace this account number / loan number that is so old ? Thanks ! :)

Have you got any old bank statements, or could you get some from your bank, as if you paid by DD the loan reference number is usually detailed on the statement each time you make a payment.

Don`t forget some of the other fantastic features of your account.
Lot onto .mbna where all your account information is at your fingertips. You can check your balance and recent transactions, review your last six statments, set up a direct debit, pay your bills and muc more. You can even go papeless.
We`d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your custom and we look forward to hearing from you soon"

    That`s all I recieved for my £10.
Been on to the site ,have to sign up to view anything but they ask for the security code on the back of the credit card.I cut up the card ages ago so can`t get in. HELP

Hi there, did you use the SAR from this website?

If you believe there should be further documentation for over the last 5/;6 years, then write back and tell them you don't think everything have been enclosed.
What about telephone call written transcripts?
If calls were made then they should have some details on them as well, like the date of the calls, what the conversation entailed and so on.

Give them 14 days to supply anything further and you can also contact the information commissioners office (ICO) for advice on this to if you feel something is not right with this, here:
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

If they can't supply anything further then they should confirm this in writing to you.

    Good luck.

Hi Mike, no, as it was so long ago & I have moved a few times since I had the account I no longer have any of the old documentation or statements for the account, Barclays has stated they don't hold info from that far back
