OK
Help me out here - being pathetic (!) no change there for me!!
Agreed with new lodger person to have a reduced first month rent til she got herself sorted out - so gave her an initial rent reduced by £50 quid of the full amount -
She's been around a week or so now and its like living with a mouse who you occasionally catch site of - studying hard, clean tidy everything, infact I am not sure she actually even eats??? etc - feel like just saying lets stay at the intial rate - which I know doesnt make great DFW financial sense - but is that too whooosie??
Aside from occupying my spare room and using a bit electricity - she is invisible.
any thoughts??
Sorry to ask you so much stuff you lovely lot xx
Agree with Sophiesmum, as always. Maybe she's just shy or possibly homesick? Give her a bit of time, see if she wants to chat over a cup of tea perhaps?Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Wee bitty expensive day - got car bumper repaired and resprayed and what a brilliant job they made of it too. Well worth £100! Walked about a mile through the snow to get to the garage rather than pop into a taxi or bus so arrived looked like a snowman.
Came home to a letter telling me my mortgage comes off it's fixed rate soon and I'll be £163 a month better off from March, which is also the last month I make £120 a month arrears payments for Council Tax from 05 (which they only told me about 7 months ago!). Sooooo, by April, I'll be £283 a month better off before taking into consideration the 2% pay rise that's in the pot, so all in, about £310 a month better off! I really wish I could just sleep until April now!
Bought some goodies from Lidl to see me through the next few days.
Not a bad day!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Piq and SM - thanks alot I am such a woose - on the one hand its nice to help someone out - on the other hand I need to be realistic about my finances.
Its not easy sharing the house in terms of our boisterous behaviour and mess (lol we sound like a zoo!!!) guess I worry about how much someone else can put up with us. They need to be pretty tolerant.
On the other hand its a lovely old house, which is fun ??!! to live in.
Will hold off and talk the rent through in another 3 weeks. Thanks guys!! Am so new at all this stuff.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Somewhat surprisingly, I cleared it! Probably the first time in six months I've seen the bottom of the basket.
That's the beauty of this thread, if you write it down, you have to do it, or die trying....having said that, I'd hate to die of ironing, what a boring way to go!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Couldn't get to see the horse today, the roads were too bad. My friend lives next door, so she went in and gave him a warm dinner! Hope to get out there tomorrow evening.
'fraid I don't like ironing if it's one piece or a hundred, just not my thing at all.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
