I know I am in the wrong place but this has taken me over an hour
    to do?

I am very recently widowed and do not know what the future holds,
    financially or otherwise.

My query is that I have £3,000 in savings,
my debts are £1047 paying off at 3.9APR till end of balance.
£1,125 at 2.9APR till end of balance.

Do I pay off my debts with my savings and start afresh or
continue to pay them as I do?

Help please - just at a loss what to do and my brain has
stopped functioning, I feel as if I have died too.

    Hi sassyhen
Sorry to hear about your loss and it is understandable that you feel unable to deal with things at present. Perhaps for the time being just continue to pay your usual payments until you get to grips with things a little more, particularly if things may change at work etc too. Once you know where you stnd properly you will be able to decide whether to pay off your debts from your savings (usually best option particularly with savings rates at moment) or whether to let them run and have a little security behind you.

What's a scratchie? and are they free?

Need something to cheer me up!

They are daily scratch cards from the bingo site, I do butlins bingo and take a break as you cant have more than one account on the St Minver.

You get a daily free one as long as you have a balance, so depoist £10, play for a guaranteed 10p, then withdraw your £10.

use the below link to check it out in more detail, oh and if you join go through a cashback site

  • Welcome sassy hen sorry for your loss - lots good advice on here - nice to see you - waving!!

Hmmmmm - no snow here - I am NOT amused - although does mean I haven't had to dash home like a frenzied mad woman to make sure the younglings are ok.

They will however be in a mood cos there is no snow later, so I might hide.

Bought some flowers through quidco from MandS - always lovely they last for ages and one of the few companies who deliver here grr to tesco direct (this is dfw cos - OH will repay me the full amount and I will tell him about quidco bit but he will forget to take it off - so not really taking advantage of him really)
    Eaten home made rice surprise
Went home did doggies and they seem happy
    Charging phone at work
Sparkling in stripey things - well done al those wearing socks for sparkling
Taken in more extra milk from home therefore not paying for tea money this week have done my bit

Hope you are all fine, mines a white coffee with one sugar if anyone is popping the kettle on. xxx

grr had a 'virtual fight' with exex ex person - amazing how folks who are 8000 miles away can still wind you up.

    SNOW DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a good DFW weekend – going home early today cos there is 5 inches of snow on the road, beautiful but it’ll take me an hour to drive the 4 miles home! I made piquants cheese and potato bake yesterday – it was so lovely!!! Thanks Piq! I made 2 huge batches so I can reheat it for the rest of the week! It’s a classic – and in this weather as well – heaven!

OH is a teacher and his school is closed so he has promised to build me an impressive snow man for when I come home! Very jealous! May lob a snowball at him when I get home!

I am gonna have a DFW day today reliving my youth, snowballs and hot chocolate and pink cheeks a go-go!! Thank heavens the snow is free! We live on a hill and apparently the local kids are sledging down the road!! May try and hitch a ride!

I love anything with potatoes, best cheap comfort food there is! Glad you enjoyed it tudorfan. Have done loads of baking for me and the freezer today, might as well use the day off well :D

Oh dear, poor Mr Pipsmum (bit of a contradictory name there!) as long as he's okay. See if you can catch some of andan's luck and win on the scratch cards - £100 that'll help!

Poor Pipsmum's Hubby!! Hope you manage to find the funds for the repairs. This weather has got a few people today. Glad he's ok though...thats all that matters!

Piglet doing very well....although afternoon "business" was done in about 10 different stages. I'm shattered from running up and down stairs emptying the damned potty! Oh for a downstairs loo......

Great news on the diary front Mrs A

Welcome to the thread sassyhen, sorry to hear of your loss. i think Sophiesmum has offered you some good advice, it sounds like you just need to take things one step at a time right now. The interest rates aren't too high so why not continue making minimum payments until you feel up to tackling issues such as finances. Its important at times like this to take care of yourself and other things can be put on the back burner.

Pipsmum, sorry to hear about your OH, i can assure you it is very frightening when the car is just slipping and sliding. So sorry to hear about the front of the car though and the killer excess, life sometimes gives us a big kick in the teeth. Hope you find the money from somewhere.
