On my own then - off I go!

Joining you late. We have a snow day too.

Nicki - talk to the universities, they may have funding/bursaries that you are eligible for, especially for going into teaching.

Hugs for dusty, rose, dusty and mudbaths farting dog (just to see if it can squeeze out another one....:o )

Options into teacher training - get a degree then do a 1 year PGCE course (these are INTENSE btw)
Do a full time teacher degree
    Part time teacher degree

BUT there are 'short courses' for secondary teachers - 2 year courses.

so I would contact UNIs to see what they offer both in terms of course options and additional support.

Students are exempt from council tax
you could also look into bursaries and incentives for shortage subjects (additional financial support from the Teacher Training Agency)

Bit late in the day for me to start doing too much, but determined I'm not going to bed until I've ticked a few boxes ( I don't have stairs and therefore no landing) :D :

    So I'm gonna

    Thursday - Master Mess-room
    Level One

    Strip bedding and wash it
Turn and vacuum mattress and redress! (will attempt to turn mattress alone*)
    Level Three
    Vacuum floors
Wipe the bed frame of dust and deweb the room
    Extras
    S&S kitchen
    HHI

    Will do these two tomorrow:
Tidy a chest of drawers.. tuck in all those bits hanging out
    straighten up the airing cupboard

    * If I'm not back within two hours assume squished up against the wall by said mattress and send help. :rotfl:

I heard it announced on Peak 107 and thought how thrilled you'd both be! (Assuming your school has the same name as your village)

  • My Auntie rang and told us but Mum can't find it on the local BBC site. Yes our school does have the village name in it, it is the church school.

Kids are busy building a snowman.

Miss A - you'll have to email DD later and tell her what you've been up to.

I've decluttered the settee, put a load of dates in my diary so I can recycle the newsletter, sorted a load of paperwork out and recycled most of it!

Wednesday - Beast Pits and Spare Ooms!
    DONE :D

    Thursday - Master Mess-room.. & landing
    Level One
    Level Two
    Level Three
    Empty bin
    Extras
    1. S&S kitchen
    2. HHI
Well there's no chance of me cleaning out the car today  And I've got several teleconferences booked (I wonder if I can get myself set up so I can do my ironing at the same time... then again, they'd probably notice that I wasn't concentrating!). I should be able to finish today's list reasonably easily, but I'm not sure how much I'll get done of the extras... must try harder!

Off to find breakfast, and then think about getting dressed... I need to get out of the habit of wearing PJs when working from home!

Nicki - lots of good advice here, so hopefully you'll find a solution to the problem.

Miss A - I hope you and W and your mum enjoy your snow day. We want to see pictures please!
  • Lot of happy youngsters here too.
We got more snow. Only started about 7.45am, but much heavier than yesterday. Must be over two inches by now and still coming:eek:. 15 schools closed in the city and into three figures for the rural ones. Severe weather warning for North-East and major road problems.

Had a phone call from craft class tutor to say 'no class' (I wasn't going to try anyway) As another member had said "it's not worth the risk for a blether" - most of us are over 60 (some well over) and the only one under has MS.

    So will replan day.

Hugs to those who need them
G&B - stay healthy vibes for your LO
Nicki - lots of good advice being offered. Contacting unis best plan. They will have all info on available assistance and there must be extra help for prospective teachers - don't forget to contact your OU regional office as well.
