  • Hello everyone

    Hi all

Lovely and quiet here in the child-free zone. Last two days "working from home" but today, really working from home. London tomorrow.

I managed to clean fridge and oven yesterday, very satisfied with that but then wanted to change light bulb in oven as well. It seems like the cover is welded on! Has anyone else had this problem? I'm going to try WD40.

Today I only have lunch break and after work for flying, I'm going to change sheets in spare oom (loving the Mr Tumnus reference) and do a 60-in-60 later.

Baby JP is adorable, but I don't want one like Mummyof5 - not after the last two days!

Don't have spare room, the whole bedsit is a beast pit really, but am tackling it one bit at a time, the room is kinda divided into LR, DR, Bedroom as there is a fold out table in between the bed and the sofa/armchairs! Am pleased today its spare rooms because it means I can catch up a bit on yesterday's list.

    My list for today:
Tidy sofa - moved the stuff on to an armchair, does that count?
    Wash up
    Tidy LR floor
    Tidy sofaside table
Heel balm on heel AM PM
Ring contents insurer and report that OH's phone is broken
Clean out cold bag – spilt cream in it and a creamy sock from where I missed the wash basket!
    [strike] Clean loo
    Clean teeth[/strike]

    Have bath
    Get dressed

Diva that is such great news. :D
    When did he wake up?

Can anyone tell me the best way to cook a spud to make a jacket potato. I would really love one that crisps up on the outside.

I normally cook them in the microwave for a while but wonder how long people tend to put them ion the oven for?

Do you put them in a microwave first to soften them? If so how long?

Think I will make them for DS and have it with veg curry as DS and I loves potatoes and veg curry :D

Diva I'm am so happy for you both and hope his progress continues.

    Help needed

Just had a phone call from DS2 head of year as he is in trouble. He wrote and passed a note in Math about the teacher to another student. That is bad enough but the note had a r*cist comment in it. I am so shocked as that is so not how my children have been brought up or how we live our lives. It's parents evening tonight. I need help - how do I face the teacher, how do I punish him for this. He is being excluded from math for 2 lessons and has to write a note of apology. OH is no good - his answer - get him to write lines !!!!!!. Please none of you think bad of me, I'm in tears typing this and can't beleive he has done it.

Massive hugs Dusty. I can only say what i'd do and that's make your son write a letter of apology at home and take that to parents evening tonight. Hand it to the teacher and tell him how you've had a long chat with your son about how serious this is. The teacher will know this isn't a comment that's come from home simply because you are so mortified. I would definitely talk to your son too...i'm sure he didn't think of the consequences of what he wrote. Then, find something you can do at home e.g. no electronics, so he knows he's not got away with it. I'm sure other people would deal with it differently, this is just my view. Massive hugs to you...of course we don't think badly of you (though i'd think better of you if you sent me 20 tubes of smarties!!!) xxxxxxxx
