  • Thanks Mudbath, Toots and Vivw! Will investigate electric burners, and buy stuff for WM tomorrow!

Ooh and GnB - it's 50%. No matter what the question. Either will happen, or won't. Two options = 50%. :D My maths teacher hated me for coming out with useful comments like this that he couldn't really explain why they were wrong.

  • Evening All

How's everyone this evening? I'm not getting sucked into the school closures debate! :rotfl: :rotfl: you lot make me laugh! But I will say, in case any flyladies round my neck of the woods haven't heard it.... All Birmingham Schools Closed Tomorrow.

This was in my local park this morning. That's my lovely pooch Harry running along. :D
    Harryrunninginthesnow.jpg

I was covered by the time I got back to the car. Very snow-woman-esque!! ;)

    Right, flying.... well..... I've:

Cleaned steps up to front door of snow, and salted them.
    Made 18 lunches
Split pea soup in the SC
    DW x 2
    WM x 2
    TD x 1
Roast lamb dinner cooked, and scoffed
Spent 45mins on the phone talking my Mother through trying to register with Amazon. I should have a week off following that! It would have been quicker to go round and do it myself. I ended up buying the book she wanted  It was a painful experience!!
And caught up on the thread.

Cazzie Giving your friend a card is a lovely idea, and being there for her to talk to would be great. When I had DD3 people crossed the playground to avoid talking to me. That was so painful. I know it's hard when something difficult happens to someone in your world, ... But a simple " I'm so very sorry, I can't imagine what you must be feeling right now. If there's anything I can do, I'm here for you both" Has to be the way to go. :( Someone said how important it is to acknowledge her baby. I'm totally in agreement. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll do just the right thing. You asking about it, shows how much you care. (((hugs))) to you and your friend and her partner.

  • LO is under the weather again, she seems to get everything going. She really needs surgery but they wont operate when she is ill because of the risks of a general anaesthetic. They want at least 4 weeks after her pneumonia to be sure she is fine. We are hoping to get a clinic appt on wednesday so the surgeon can assess her, dont like seeing her in pain:(

HShugs2.gif G&B for you and LO - it's horrible when kids are ill and in pain so I know how you feel, I hope she is better soon and that the surgeon can assess her properly... :A

G&B your poor LO I hope she bounces back soon and OH is not too bad thanks, his chest is still sore but he is sure it is muscular.

FU&S huge hugs and I hope you not too shook up or in too much pain

Please don't take this the wrong way but I find it sad that so many parents need to work and therefore it is so inconvenient when their children are off school. Are parents really worried about what they are missing that day educationally or is it more that their childcare has been removed? The delight of my 'southern' children who don't get to play in that amount of snow very often was lovely. Down at the hill where you can sledge there was a lovely community spirt of parents chatting with excited children enjoying a special day off. If it happened a lot it would be a problem but here it is once a year at the very most.

I think it is disgusting schools are closed because of a bit of snow.. honestly there used to be feet of snow and staff and children still got in.. such pansies!!!

Well I'm not driving 28 miles in these conditions! The main reason our school is closed is because the pupils come from such a wide area and the 18 minibuses (plus parents' cars) wouldn't be safe on the roads they'd have to use. And I wouldn't want to be pushing wheelchairs in the snow or dealing with the injuries from our more unsteady pupils on the ice!

I am in it for the children and I certainly don't live in a satellite village or have a house worth 300k, but there aren't many closer special schools.........

And I don't think breaking limbs is good either!!! **wonder if I should have sued**;)

And I'm not sure the local primary schools would want my class!!!

    toots - my thoughts exactly!

fedup - huge hugs. Hope you are ok - take care

SummerMoon - I lived in the same street (and she still lives there as does my dad!)

Flying wise I have washed up and decluttered some melon, and cross stitched most of pooh's t-shirt!

  • I'm in but not much done today.

Left for work at 7.15am and back in at 9pm.

Our front room is pre-plastering chaos - walls bare, radiators off etc so no point doing anything with that.

stairs hoovered, load of washing in, packed lunch/tea/swimming stuff for tomm, polished bedroom.

Thank god SIL offered to have us over for tea so no cooking or washing up.

My challenge for this week is bed before 11pm, which is where I'm heading after I've washed my hair.

Is it wrong to sometimes NOT want to be a career girl and instead stay at home in PJs, watch day-time TV and baking?

Not that I'm suggesting that's what mams do, just what I fancy occasionally.

Pigpen... just a thought, but on Feb 18th you might want to remind anyone who is with BG for gas to submit a meter reading (online or over the phone), as the new rates come in on the Feb 19th and there will therefore be an estimated reading on the 19th so that they can work out how much to charge you at the higher rate and how much at the lower... probably best to put your own reading in

... and I haven't forgotten about meter moves... just trying to track down the right person to talk to!

G&B - ((((hugs)))) to you and LO.

Fedup&skint - make sure you get your whiplash looked at. Your insurance should cover private physio sessions, and you don't want to hang around, so ask them about it. I had it a couple of years ago (I kept claiming I couldn't have it, as it is a very specific and not particularly common complaint, but the physio told me otherwise), and it took a long time to get it sorted completely.

Hopefully everyone else will take this as a warning not to drive unless absolutely necessary if the conditions are bad in their area, and also to check that their headrests are set up properly.
  • G&B sorry to hear that. Hope you get the app you want, and that she's much better soon. (((hugs)))
