well she should have planned her pregnancy better to avoid snow!! .. silly woman!
Vivw.. children NEED to fall over.. breaking limbs is good for them.. it is valuable learning experience.Plus when they close school I end up with more children than I own because their parents are at work!
It may be a learning experience but you tell that to some parent who sees it as a way to make a few pounds! Also unfortunately we would also have 100+ adults walking over the ice that would be created by the kids sliding and our bones don't mend quite so easily.
When my kids were young, I always had friends who would have my kids if I was at work and they were at home. Then I'd have their kids at weekends, sleep overs, holidays etc ...it all worked out in the end. I had one of DD's friends for 2 weeks when her home was being underpinned, had another friend of mine with her 5 kids for 2 weeks when she was homeless [that meant 3 adults and 8 kids in a terrace house]and another of DD's friends when her mother took a much needed holiday. We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
PMSL pigpen....you've just made me choke!!!
If I was a teacher I wouldn't want to live anywhere near the school....I wouldn't want to bang into the little [strike]pests[/strike] dears on my day off. I reckon you shouldn't be allowed to live within 100 mile radius of the school you work in for that very reason!!
:T:T:T You summed it up well.......We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -

I was just about to say the same Mudbath. We have had cases where teachers have had their houses egged and had gangs of up to 50 [STRIKE]little sh8ts[/STRIKE] pupils outside their houses shouting abuse. This is the first place I've lived where some of the teachers stay local.
Someone remind me please...why do I want to be a teacher????0 -
Toots - 85p is brilliant, which site did you use in the end? They last about 12 hours I think. I tend to put the burner on for about an hour and then I get a week or so out of each one. I lurveeeeeeee them! We have a local card shop which sells them for £1.05 which is there usual price.
Flying - i've put the wrapper from the tart in the bin and put two plates and two forks in the dishwasherxx

SSL I was thinking the same. I was one of many police checked parents who offered to go in to assist with student/staff numbers today at school, so yes greenbee I think some have already considered this type of thing as we know what a vital part of life school is but I don't think staff just working in their nearest school would ever be done. Some kids have fibbed and said the senior school was off today and had a day off (without parents at home to check in most cases) I do wonder if that is where my bin has gone. I think the north is much better at dealing with bad weather than the south however as we see it much more often, when my Dad worked in London he was always stunned what a standstill the place came to in bad weather. Speaking of which poohbear I hope you're ok out there, I know weather is something your area is famous for xOne day I might be more organised...........

Hi everyone!
Carlsberggal - what lovely wedding pictures. You look so happy, congratulations :kisses2:
Dusty and Soappie - it is a new series, I can't wait. I love that programme! Might have to record and watch tmrw as I think DH wants to watch Whitechapel on the other side, but will enjoy it more on my own (if he can get to work) without him being bored in the background!
Triker - there was an item on Watchdog about clampers. You could try getting in touch with them as your car was damaged by the clampers wasn't it? They had a woman on there who was fined £700. She couldn't pay so they took the car away (complete with her child's car seat, pushchair and other personal belongings which she couldn't get back without paying the fine) and carried on charging her £30 a day for the pleasure of keeping her car. Then the police phoned her and said her car had been seen being driven by someone else. The clampers sold her car! Without her knowledge! Trading Standards have deemed this theft and are investigating. What a flippin liberty! I have a very low opinion of clampers.
Soappie - your tiles look lovely and so does your dog.
Crafty - so sorry to hear about your friend. You have my sympathy
Fedup - sorry to hear about your crash, take care of yourself and try to get some treatment for your whiplash, it's so painful!
As for me, I had a fun morning in the snow, had soup and toasted cheese sandwiches for lunch, tidied the stuff piled up on the armchairs and had a nap as I had a headache.
Tonight or tomorrow I need to:
Tidy sofa
Wash up
Tidy floor
Empty washing machine and hang clothes up on air dryer
Tidy up hotspot - the top of the sofaside table!
Post letters
Write cards and letters to friends
Put heel balm on heels
Take tablet and Gavisgon
