Princess Jane, that made me laugh, enjoy your inner blackness:D

Was doing quite well here, two loads of washing out on the line, vaccuumed house top and bottom...then chipped one of my back top teeth at lunch time and have gone into a decline! Tooth isn't painful, just uncomfortable but it made me feel very guilty about not wearing the gum shield I got before Christmas.....I guess this is a sign I have to knuckle down and do that, I certainly do grind my teeth at night and this chip off must be a sign I'm weakening them.

Anyway time to get the washing in and pull myself together and get the lentils on, I'm having two vegan friends to dinner tonight

Hope you all have a good Saturday

Ooooh Greenbee! Any chance of emailing me a photo of it so I can show them? How easily does it come apart e.g. can you separate the head and foot? (I'm thinking of transportation!)? .

It's a slatted bed, so the frame comes apart easily. Mattress is nearly 10 years old, in reasonable condition (I have always turned it fairly regularly), with one mark on from a hot water bottle that perished :o. It's a King Koil spine support/spinal guard.

IIt's a very boring pine frame, with a curved headboard. Slightly orangey colour, but it would look great if they did what I'd planned, which is to sand it down and paint it! tn_COBM224_PINE_SINGLE_BED.jpgHopefully this pic will work. I think this is pretty much the same bed... the headboard might be slightly lower on mine.

I think I have crockery in the garage... and various kitchen implements... they're welcome to rummage as long as they pack it all back up so I can transport it to a car boot sale later in the month!

Have told my friends I'm not going out tonight... called the person I was going to give a lift to who understands why I don't want to drive, and then left a voicemail for the friend who's party it is. I feel incredibly guilty, but I know it's not worth the risk.

nicki - hope DD feels better soon.

Valli - congratulations on the marmalade! I look forward to getting my pot in the post ;)

Greenbee - thank you so much! As it comes apart, I should be able to get it in my car and stick the mattress on the roof rack. Basingstink's only about an hour from me so it shouldn't be too much further to yours. They may want to blag the crockery too. I'll have a word with DD later.

And I think you're wise about not going out tonight. Particularly as the Met Office are forecasting widespread icy roads from 5pm onwards for most of the country. I see there's also another warning out for snow on Monday and Tuesday. The temp has dropped here considerably in the last half an hour.

Just about to declutter an early Gordon's. I've earned it today!

They can have whatever they like! It saves me the effort of putting it on freecycle  , and it would be good to know that things are going to someone who is starting out. I was very lucky and inherited a lot of my furniture, and was well aware of the difference it made when I was setting up on my own.

I suppose I'd better find some food seeing as I'm staying in now... as least I've managed to get a bit of exercise today! I'm vaguely considering going to the 8am church service tomorrow if I get up on time, seeing as I'm clearly not going to get to either yoga or pilates! Then again... I could just have a lie-in :o
  • Greenbee I agree, it's a wise decision, a difficult one to take though. :) No-one would be glad if you crashed, :( it's just not worth it. Well done you. Could you perhaps take your friend out, or make lunch for her instead??

Valli well done you too. It's such a great feeling isn't it. I haven't made my own jam/jellies for ages now. :D

rach pleased to hear you're feeling better
mummyof5 well done to your DD for getting registered for her course
nicki hope DD is better soon
greenbee it sounds like you have made the sensible choice, if it gets like that here I'll be staying in too!
soappie I hope your DD and her boyfriend are very happy in their new home, sounds like good timing for you aswell.

With the freezer, I always defrost it with towels due for washing in the bottom

I've blitzed the kitchen so having a well deserved sit down, watching the snow come down hoping it naffs off and doesn't spoil tonights plans! If it does get really bad I won't be going as I won't risk the babysitter travelling or us.

Going to have a sandwich incase we go out, then do the sitting room
One day I might be more organised...........

Thank you all for your support on this... I find it hard to let people down particularly as I know I should socialise more  , but you're right, I know she would feel awful if anything happened to me. Unfortuately the friend I was going to give a lift to won't go without me, even though she's only 10 minutes away, as she won't know anyone else, so I'm feeling doubly bad about it! I'll try to catch up with them both properly as soon as the roads are safe and might have a little think about an extra present too!
