Well done Rach - hope your meal goes well. And as to Mr S - don't blame them too much. I think a lot of people have been stocking up big time because of the weather. I know when I was in Mr. T this afternoon the veg shelves were quite bare (glad I'd been to the greengrocer as well as the butcher!) as was the soup aisle

Right, off to get this peasant started - I'll do it the same way I did it for NN the other week

Has anyone heard from Pigpen - is she Ok? Or has she run away from home again?

We have been out to buy new trousers for Miss A & W as they keep growing! Went to Matalan, everywhere was heaving so we came straight home afterwards. Spent just under £100 and all I got was a £3 belt! But the kids have at least 4 pairs of trousers each, all adjustawaists :) and some t shirts. Should keep them going for a bit. Also got some Christmas cards and wrapping paper although I have enough wrapping paper to wrap ALL the presents Father Christmas delivers, the world over :rotfl: It was too good to pass up and I find their paper is decent quality.

Since getting back I have put the DW on and shovelled snow of the other half of the drive so I can bring one of Mum and Dad;s car's round here tomorrow.

Just decluttered a :coffee: and some macadamia nuts yum yum, the only type of nut that DH ever liked and we first tried them on Honeymoon in Hawaii, happy times :D

ETA right decision Greenbee and I am sure there will be other people who cancel as well so don't feel bad. Better to be safe and see her another time than risk getting stuck/hurt.

Thank you all for your support on this... I find it hard to let people down particularly as I know I should socialise more  , but you're right, I know she would feel awful if anything happened to me. Unfortuately the friend I was going to give a lift to won't go without me, even though she's only 10 minutes away, as she won't know anyone else, so I'm feeling doubly bad about it! I'll try to catch up with them both properly as soon as the roads are safe and might have a little think about an extra present too!

I also think it's a good decision, and at the end of the day your friend could go if she really wanted, though I understand why she won't...you're not actually stopping her go. I should socialise more too! Am looking forward to friends (DH's friends really but I like them!) coming tonight.

Now i'm going to chill and read my book for half an hour, try and finally get rid of the lingering headache and then prep the dinner in about an hour I guess. Glad I went for something easy!

Oooh AnWsMum pleased you're having happy reminiscences!
Thanks for the marmalade praise ladies - I get a real thrill when I look at my jam shelf - up there now is 1 jar of Rhubarb and Ginger, and plenty of Bramble Jelly and Blackcurrant Jam (had a bumper crop last summer of blackcurrants and the foraged blackberries were luscious.
So now I can add my marmalade and the 6lbs or so of oranges were whoopsied so cost 60p - so a real bargain.
    Off to Morrisons now...

Indeed - as they work so hard, there's very little fat on them. Nice, lean meat...... Free range and generally organic ;)

    Evening everyone.

Not long been up and have got my bag packed for work.

We have had snow showers but its not lying.

Enjoyed my shopping trip out with DD. Ive treat her to some new clothes. After years of trying to help her with her depression and get her to look for work she has suddenly had a new lease of life. Mind it does have something to do with the social now putting people on courses. Has applied for two jobs at the hospital and I went with her today to get an application form for Mr A. She seems more confident now. She wanted something to wear for if she gets an interview.

Hex2 Oh that sounds really painful. Sending healing vibes to you.

toots Ive been meaning to say for ages I enjoy the jokes you send.

lil_me Hope you manage to get your night out. Sending positive night out vibes.

greenbee Best to keep safe and not travel unless you really have to.

Valli Well done on the marmalade. I love it on hot buttered toast.

    Catch you all tomorrow.

greenbee - think you have probably made the right decision for tonight
valli - well done with the marmalade making not something I have been brave enough to try
lil-me - enjoy your night out
nicki - hope DD starts to feel better soon

I have been working thorough my list but keep getting distracted with other jobs which havent been on the list, have been updating original post but once I do stop tonight I will bring list forward for tomorrow. We have a friends dog staying over for the night - ours has been unsettled at having another dog in the house and the visitor is prowling round and round I think eventually when they both crash that will be them for tonight had a giggle earlier as they eat each others tea sniffed there own and decided the others look better - shame they both had the same thing:rotfl: :rotfl:

All caught up now! I'm dozing over the keyboard, as had an early start to the day, on the 7.45am train to go to the conference, which was excellent - my mind is now suffering overload from all the good ideas!

Shared the train carriage home with four students from Edingurgh Uni doing a charity race to Paris - they'd been allowed a free trip from London to Dover - not all bad Southeastern rail...

OH offered to treat us to a takeaway, which means I don't have to cook, so all in all, a very good day.

Tomorrow I'll have to do the bathroom, and all my lesson plans, as again I've left them - at least this week I did have a proper reason, this cold has been horrible, and I still don't feel great today.

    :hello:to all my flylady friends!

ps valli - coincidence, I made marmalade too this week, although I paid slightly more for my oranges, it still works out half the price of the shop marmalade - and it is absolutely delicious! I used a recipe from The Good Housekeeping Cook Book.

Has any one found pigpen yet, I am now very worried, she normally has popped in by now on a Saturday.

Spag bol cook from scratch, (none of those pre mixed sauces here) eaten, everything washed up.

Last of the washing, now dry, folded, and ready for ironing tomorrow morning.

My thanks button does not seem to be working, just to let you know I have read the recent posts, will try again late.
