Rosepink - is there something you (personally rather than DH as well) can sacrifice to pay for the curtains? If they're going to make you feel so much better, then they may well be worth the £20, and a little something to lift your spirits at this time of year really helps. Something like no alcohol for a month (or a night, depending on how much you drink
), or water instead of juice/squash/coffee for a bit... and you might find that whatever you sacrifice turns out not to be such a big deal and you start saving more towards your debts too!
HHI done... sheet finished, so only the duvet cover and a couple of odds & ends from yesterday's wash left in the ironing basket! :j
It's STILL snowing, and I really do need to empty the bins and get into the garage to retrieve a bit more food from the outside freezer, just in case! I've now used up all the manky fruit (it went through the juicer this morning), and am using blueberries from the freezer for breakfast. I'll make smoothies with them, apple juice and yogurt for the next douple of days. I also have some raspberries, and then I'm down to dried fruit!
I know I probably could get out in the car if necessary, but a. it's under a snowdrift, and b. I'd rather not drive in these conditions unless I actually have to... I don't want to be a statistic. I'll probably walk to the village shop tomorrow, and if it clears up I'm out in the evening. In the meantime, I should actually be making use of the storecupboad items that I normally ignore!0 -

That's a good idea, I could cut down on chocolate - that's the only thing I buy for myself and it annoys DH how much I eat so that would get me into his good books and I might even lose weight! I don't drink alcohol and already only drink water to save money so chocolate it will have to be. Won't give up completely, that's impossible for anyone isn't it?
Am going to wash up now."Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

As silly as it sounds quite often its cheaper to have your other half on the car insurance.Try running a quote with one of those companies you have already tried and add him. Then compare if it is cheaper. Hope this helpscarlsberggal wrote: »Spent over an hour (on and off - after all I am at work!!) getting quotes on-line for car insurance. Why is it dearer than last year when I've taken dh off as we don't need him as a named driver, I have made no claims, had no convictions and it's the same car??!!!!!!0 -
Afternoon everyone
Greenbee - the pancakes - could you take a camping gaz stove thing in and cook them on that?
Mudders - healthy heart vibes for your Dad
Lil-me - enjoy your night out tomorrow!
Left work early to avoid getting snowed in. The site I work at is on the top of a hill and v. exposed. It was snowing when I got there this morning and by lunchtime there were 3 inches of the stuff on my car and blizzard conditions plus reports of heavy snow at home so I decided to leave early - as did most of my colleagues.
I am so glad I have a 4x4. Took the usual 6 mile B road part of the route - got half way down it only to discover it was closed - whether snow or accident I don't know - but it was certainly v. slippy and white. The four wheel drive came in very handy doing the u-turn over the thick snow!
Journey took two hours in the end (instead of the normal 1) but I'm home safe and in one piece.
And am now going to fly!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Rosepink are there any things you could ebay to make the £20 to pay for them? Would it be possible to add tab tops along the top to lengthen then - how high is your pole/rail, could you lower that a bit?
I'm excelling myself. DS2 wanted to change his room around so every piece of furniture has been pulled out cleaned behind and put into a different position. Bed is remade just got the window and sides to finish so
HHC 15:30-16:00 and it will be done? The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Rosepink - sounds like a great idea. Work out how much chocolate you normally buy and how much you need to cut down by to save the money in a month. Or you could work out what you want to cut down to in order to help lose weight, and then see how long it would take to pay for the curtains. If you then set yourself goals of what you want to do with the money after that you may well be able to keep going without the chocolate!
mags - looks like you're up for 4 stars and not much to do to get to 5 :T :T
Right... dyson & bins emptied. Braved the garage and transferred provisions from the outside freezer to the inside one... now going to clear the floors in the study & bathroom and I think I'll be able to tick off another full day to level 3 before getting back to this contract
soappie - glad you made it there and back OK. I'm now very relieved I didn't go in today... I have a motorway car (i.e. automatic, turbo, low profile tyres  and b*gger all use in any kind of slightly-more-interesting-than-average weather!)0 -
Soappie glad you are back home safe and sound do you have snow at home now?The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0
