Hello Lovelies :hello:
Hope everyone's well.
Mudders healthy heart vibes sent to your Pa, hope all is well, and the app. is straightforward. ((hugs))
Dusty ((hugs)) that was clearly very upsetting for you. I'm glad it's resolved now.
Further to that situation.... And climbing on to my soap box.....
My DD1 has put forward a suggestion to her school council about the school doing some specific work around why we don't use racist/sexist/homophobic etc etc language. She's so fed up of challenging children at school about their inappropriate use of language, and thinks the school have a duty to educate everyone about these issues.
I'm sure that most of those children come from decent families, who would be mortified at their offspring using these kinds of words. But I think that when they're around their peers using words like this, it becomes part of everyday speak.
My DD1 challenged a girl at school about her referring to an Asian girl by using the 'P' word. This girl's response "f... off, I can say what I like"
I think if we had a more robust bit of education around prejudice, we wouldn't have so many people tangled up in political correctness -v- just plain right and wrong. It is tiring to have to keep picking people up about it, but I will, and do persist.
Off soap box.
Well folks, I've not done much apart from the general tidy round to keep on top of things this week. The children have been off twice, and I was out one day getting my hair done (which is an all day event!) - And Toots thanks for asking, it's fab, lots of curl back in to shape, and interesting blond streaks! - So all in all it's been a busy week. I'm also beginning the process of getting back to work! I've spent all morning looking at jobs/courses/voluntary stuff. Got a headache now.
I haven't worked since 1991   ( by that I mean paid out of the house work... I work my butt off at home  )
I've requested an application form for something I'd be good at, but, blimey!!!!! There are huge gaps to fill! So, I'm thinking that I might do some voluntary bits, to bring me back into the world so to speak. Anyway, it's all pretty scary, and will take some time to come to fruition I think.
AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!!! It's going to be so different!!! I'M A BIT SCARED. :eek:MMSSB Club Founder Member

Grumpy delivery man has arrived with two parcels. One I can't remember what it isand the other one causes a dilemna.
When Next had their January sale online, there were some lovely curtains that will make my crummy little bedsit feel a bit warmer and cosier - they are an autumnal red in lovely fabric. The ones we have now were here when we got here and are yuck, altho DH likes them. We haven't changed anything in here, apart from buying a few more pieces of furniture. DH complained when I mentioned I'd ordered them, and we are very short of money. I 'forgot' to cancel the order. The question is, do I keep them and not tell him, then put them up in a few months when he has forgotten the circs? Or do I send them back? They were £20 reduced a huge amount. I really want them, but I also want to please DH and get out of debt. Decisions decisions. All vote now!

rosepink24 - I'd say keep them and when he asks what you've bought them for explain that it will cut down on heating bills as they are far thicker and warmer than the yucky ones!!To love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0

I'd keep them, but discuss it with him. I think that it's all very well and good to be frugal, and practical, however, it's always a bit easier to be frugal, and practical, if our environment is comfortable. So, you'll recoup a bit on the energy costs, cos you'll be cosier, and you'll feel better cos you'll enjoy looking at them. In the grand scheme of things, is that £20 going to make a difference between being debt free and not being debt free?
My OH would never buy anything or change anything if it was down to him... fortunately, it's not!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Good luck with whatever you decide. But my vote, for what it's worth, is to keep them.MMSSB Club Founder Member

Well, I've just hung one side of the curtains. They are soooo gorgeous, in this lovely red crinkly silky fabric. But about 5 inches too short. Gutted.

Well, that answers your question really doesn't it.What a shame. Unless you could add to the bottom of them.... working on the principle that £20 for new curtains is really very reasonable.

I'm thinking of keeping them anyway, and either getting my sister who is a seamstress extraordinaire to put a border in a different fabric on the bottom to make them longer (I have a skirt like this, looks good) or keep them til we move (am going mad, have been in bedsit year and a half and want a bigger place asap) and hope that there is a window there taht fits them! They are far too gorgeous to send back, and you are right, £20 isn't that big a deal! In fact, it's a bargain! Am convincing myself alright, now just have to convince DH!"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."
