Essex Girl we might have walked past one another and not known it!!!
Silvercharming - I'm afraid I'm with the rest - I too would have told her to sling her hook! Hopefully Dave's "little chat" with her will do the trick.
Pen-pin thanks for the reminder about Quidco - just checked mine and I to have a healthy payment gone to my bank. :j Will have to go on to the online banking and transfer it to the savings account.
Chinese new year was lovely - great atmosphere and we had a lovely time wandering round watching the entertainments and picking at the street food as and when it took our fancy. Sampled our fave roast pork buns again too - they are delicious! We went into one of the big chinese supermarkets while we were up there and got not only a 3kg bag of bicarb for £2.27, but also picked up a couple of pigs trotters. Been dying to try them so have dug out a HFW recipe for them.....will probably get them on to cook tomorrow evening and switch meal plans about so we eat them on Tuesday night.
It's bitterly cold here tonight - when we got off the underground at the end of the central line to come home the car said it was -4c - that's cold in my book! It was trying to snow all day - and there is a light covering on the ground here so bearing in mind I have to be able to get the car out in the morning to get to work I have not parked in the back lane behind the flats but have opted to leave it on the main road instead.
We have for some time been looking for a good bird book to keep indoors to identify the things we see and photograph when we are4 out....haven't quite found the "right" one yet, and as it was meant to be one of my birthday pressies in July I have asked MrEH if instead of waiting and waiting to find the book we want, I can substitute a couple of others I've been wanting instead - as he has agreed the River Cottage Preserves book and a Slow Cooker recipe book I like the look of are shortly going to be winging their way to me!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Evening all, we have snow,
well about half an inch so far. Sitting here very podged having eaten rather too much of my mince hotpot and cobbler.
Tru – now that is excellent moneysaving, making your own hoover bags. They are very expensive so I think a few people would find that idea helpful.
MSDiva – lit my candle for Tristan last night. Hope all the good wishes, prayers and positive thoughts are helping.
Lillibet dripping – going to Sundayschool (twice), reading a book or sedately pushing doll’s pram down the garden path were the only activities allowed on a Sunday when I was little. Mother made dinner but no other “jobs” were permitted. Family Favourites, Educating Archie and the Billie Cotton Band show were the radio programmes we listened to. How times change!
Silvercharming – no wonder you are feeling used, I think in your position I would be sitting down and having a word with my DH about future visits from his colleague. I know she might be lonely but reading about her trying to “acquire” your glasses gives a good pointer as to why she doesn’t have any other friends.
Have only managed to catch up part of thread, hope everyone has had a good weekend, hugs to those who need them and furry purrs to all the pets.0 -

Hi everyone
Don't know what planet I'm on, I popped in here about two hours ago, read everyones threads and thanked them and then left ! Anyway, just wanted to say MSD - am thinking of you, SilverCharming - talk about bite your teeth, you have some willpower, N9eav - Happy Birthday to you.
Talking of birthdays, its DH birthday tomorrow. His sister came down today carrying a balloon with Happy 50th birthday on it. Only problem is that he is 49 !! His mother had got the date wrong. How mad is that. I'm still killing myself laughing about it. Serves him right for telling people he is nearly 50 all the time.
Was up early this morning and made 3 dozen cupcakes. The chocolate fudge ones went down really well, even DH was complimentary and he is not that keen on chocolate cake. As we were out for DN 21st birthday last night, I forgot to take the meat out of the fridge for today so ended up having a throw together of tinned steak, peas and chips. Tackled the 3ft ironing pile for this week. Did a little more cross stitching for another birth sampler and have an order for yet another one. Wish I could earn brewsters from this but no such luck. Beside the fact, I went gossy when I realised I was short of some colours and left gaps for where the stitches should have gone, only to have to unpick them when I realised I had sewn in the wrong place.
Anyway, day off tomorrow for DH birthday and also to go to the crematorium, as my dad's plaque is going in place. It will be a joint plaque with my mum so I am hopeful that it will look nice. Will be playing free bingo at a local hall tomorrow afternoon and then a birthday tea for DH and SS is coming over, so that should be nice for DH.
Work has put me on to reduced hours for the time being as I suffered an m.e. attack a couple of weeks ago and they think I may be doing too much too soon, so will see how that goes but I am hopeful.
Have a good evening one and all. Best wishes and kind thoughts to you all.I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.0 -

Evening chums just got back from dinner at DD's temps -3 at the moment and about a couple of inches of snow so far, but more is forecast overnight .Hope it doesn't stop my college tomorrow night.
Had a lovely dinner, and lots of play time with my grandchildren .They are very excited and hoping for their schools to shut so they can play in the snow tomorrow !!
Silvercharming: I think you have the patience of a saint, I would have definitely told her to sling her hook, cheeky mare.
Just going to go and put my feet up, and watch some t.v. and do a bit of knitting
keep wrapped up warm everyone, its going to be a chilly night tonight
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Happy Birthday N9eav!! Hope you had a good day!
It's getting colder here and we have even had a little bit of powdery snow which is unheard of for here.. usually we get a little of that overnight and it melts by 9 am or so..
